On a large file (3.6g) download, the line keeps dropping. Have DSL

Software tech says it is a connection problem. IP says it is a connection problem. AT&T says it is not a connection problem. IP says it could be a modem problem but that would be unusual. Down load starts, and progress window indicates a down load rate of 1.5mb/s. As the download progresses, the rate starts to slow down. It may take 15 minutes but eventually it gets to about 400kb/s and the line drops. It then requires a power reset of the modem to restart.

SOURCE: Router seems to drop connection frequently

What a static ip is, is the ip address that the router automatically assigns to other equipment. (computers, xbox, ect.) Find D-links customer support line for help.

SOURCE: 2701HGB modem - dsl light flashes red

if all the lights on the modem are Green then it means there's no prob with the hardware. just make sure that you're going to use the right WEP key or wireless password. the network name is 2wirexxx, the X is the the last 3 numbers of the SN which can be found on the bottom of your 2wire 2701HG-B.make sure that your wireless switch is also turned on of course. the wireless light on the modem will lit if it is connected

SOURCE: Intermitent DSL/Internet Connnectivity 2701 Router

Hii,

* If you can connect after disconnecting power and reconnecting, it means there is formation of static charge on modem

* Check whether there is any cordless phone or any other satellite devices next to the modem. If so, move the modem 10 feet away.

* If your modem is placed on carpet, please place it on wooden desk

For guest:
Do you see the power is also interrupted while loosing connection? If so try plugging the modem into different socket. Dont waste money for simple problems.

If this doesnt work, please dont rate me down, if it works, please rate me as fixya!!! lol...

Have a nice day!!!

Internet signal keeps dropping

There's a lot of possiblities here.If you have a DSL/dialtone lineshare, listen for noise on the line(humming, crackling static, dropped calls). If you have a dry loop(DSL only),connect a phone in place of the modem and see if it has an "intercept" message(like "you have tried to call a number out of your service area" or something like that). If it does, you can use a phone to check the line when the DSL drops(don'touforget to put an inline filter on it).If the DSL light doesn't go out when the Internet light does,it is NOT a problem with the physical line. This would be an issue with the modem or the equipment at the serving end.( I am a DSL tech, and spend lots of wasted time diagnosing and trying to fix problems that are beyond my reach(central office server issue) or that I didn't need a dispatch for(it is cheaper to send a new modem than to send a tech).

Unable to connect to localhost 2864 upon attempting Sony Bloggie MHS-TSS20 CAMCORDER. NEED HELP. WAYNE

Chatted with a Sony tech who told me to do the following which worked for me:

Log into the computer as the Administrator.
On the computer, browse to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder.
In the etc folder, open the hosts file using the Notepad software.
At the bottom of the hosts-Notepad window, delete ::1 local host line from the file.
If there is a # symbol before the 127.0.0.1 IP address, delete the # symbol.
On the hosts-Notepad menu bar, click File.
In the File drop-down menu, click Save.
Close the hosts-Notepad window.
Next, try to open the Bloggie Software on the Computer.

No Internet access. Wep personal Connects to router fine Router diagnostics says dynamic or static ip set incorrectly but dynamic is set for auto assigning ip

1. You possibly may have the IP address statically assigned in the NIC card properties and or the router. ???
2. Go to the control panel then to network then check the properties of the TCP/IP procol properties to see if you have it set to "obtain an ip automatically"
also see if you have " DNS to obtain automaticall".
3.Unplug the ethernet cord for about 30 seconds the connect it back to the ethernet port.
4. check to see if you have a connection to the internect.
5. call your ISP to see if you line has had any disconnects or maintenance.
6. check the router status ( this will tell you if you have disconnected from the ISP 's server and need a possible reset .
7. Do a ipconfig /all to see if you have the "media disconnect" error > this is done by going to the command prompt and typing "cmd" enter then you DOS prompt will show.
8. check you status lights on the router to give this information to the tech when calling your ISP to walk you through a reset or check the connection on the DSL/ CABLE line.
I hope this helps. Have a great day!ormation to the tech when calling your ISP to walk you through a reset or check the connection on the DSL/ CABLE line.

Dlink DI-514 dropping my wireless connections

Your router probably needs a firmware upgrade to accommodate the throughput from the ISP server.
1. check with your provider to see if you have issue with your cable or DSL line.
Sometime if it is a DSL line it is the drop to your house , ( rodent chews in the line; rain or moisture, or dangling and not secured.
2.Cordless phones to close to the router will cause disconnection.
3. A firewall setting in an anti virus software can cause disconnect if not properly configured.
4. channell selection will cause disconnect on some older router such as yours and an new router is the only remedy because the router has come what is called " end- fo -life " and the manufacturer no longer support the router because of new router technology implemented.

Wireless network computer connecting

Hi Lad,
On each machine, got to start>run>type in CMD. In the black box that opens, type in IPCONFIG. All the machines should have the and IP that is similar. 192.168.x.xx << These last letter have to be different. The Gateway should be the same. If the IP is 169.xxx.x.x,,(note the 169) the machines are not getting an IP from the router. Check all your firewalls, Go to start<Conrtol panel>Network connections. Click on your network connection>properties. click on TCP/ip and then click on the properties. Make sure the button is marked to get the IP and DNS automatically. Good luck!
