Dlink DI-514 dropping my wireless connections

It keeps dropping my wireless connections, any idea why? When i try and connect with my laptop, it will do it successfully but when i try and surf the web its as if it isn't connected, can't load any web pages. I right click the icon in the tray and hit repair then stalls at renewing ip then says it couldn't connected then will never try to reconnect until i reset the router(unplug and re-plug) then it'll connect again and do the same thing.

Your router probably needs a firmware upgrade to accommodate the throughput from the ISP server.
1. check with your provider to see if you have issue with your cable or DSL line.
Sometime if it is a DSL line it is the drop to your house , ( rodent chews in the line; rain or moisture, or dangling and not secured.
2.Cordless phones to close to the router will cause disconnection.
3. A firewall setting in an anti virus software can cause disconnect if not properly configured.
4. channell selection will cause disconnect on some older router such as yours and an new router is the only remedy because the router has come what is called " end- fo -life " and the manufacturer no longer support the router because of new router technology implemented.

Ssh remote computer access

It is possible to limit outgoing connections, but generally a firewall is used to limit connections being initiated from the outside (incoming connection attempts). Check the settings in your router to ensure that it isn't limiting outgoing connection attempts, but it sounds more like a permissions issue on the server your are trying to connect to.

Wireless connection lost

If you don't have the manual go to the dlink website and download it. There has to be a way to perform a complete reset to return it to a default condition. You will then have a default password so you can get to the router from a wired connection and set up a new network key.
