Various Problems with Pavilion dv9205us p/n: rp115ua#aba. I read a blog on this site about a recall on this model and even once found (and lost) a portion on HP's site describing the issue.
I have been having four distinct problems (in my opinion interrelated)--I am very convinced that it is hardware based: 1. Boot Problems: the other night the computer powered down and would not reboot for an entire day waited over-night with the battery out and it booted up. Under this type of problem in vista i kept getting the blue screen of death and the computer would restart; hence, I use XP pro now. 2. I get horrible system hangs whenever I move the computer (mouse, audio, video, keystrokes, etc all hang) the hang lasts no more than a second and happens every 3-5 seconds--VERY annoying. 3. If any pressure is put on the right section below the keyboard the optical drive ceases to work and I have had it not work after multiple restarts. Apparently there is a loose connection of some sort that fails when the board is flexed at all. 4. Wifi disables itself every few minutes no matter how strong the signal strength is (there is an recall problem with the wifi)
I just got off of the phone with a very obstinate Indian that insisted that the issues that I am having are not under the "recall program". As you can see there is something very wrong. The indian told me that this is not under the recall and refused to even let me send it in to see if the problems are related without charging me an inordinate amount of money. He also refused to put a supervisor on the phone after server requests. I have to say after working on computers freelance for a number of years HP has the worst service I have ever witnessed. I have reformatted on several occasions and have had problems with vista and XP. Xp installs have been from different install discs and various driver versions. Please advise if anyone else is have one or all of these issues and when you have done to fix the issue(s).

The wireless password can be located either on the wireless router itself (if it's being provided to you by your ISP), or you'll need to log into your router to view/change your wireless password.
If you've connected to the wireless router before and simply need to recall the password, you can view it inside of Windows:
This model has bad solder works on the four inductor on the inverter board, please see my pictures here, make sure to remove old solder first and clean the inductor wires real well before soldering. http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/HP%20F1703/
I would try to reset to factory settings first see if that does the trick

dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 recall
I have an out of warranty dv9000 and haven't had wireless for months. I just discovered HP issued a recall for the wireless and other problems with several different Pavilion and Presario models. For the wireless problem with the dv9000 they are replacing the motherboard on all notebooks in or out of warranty. I was wondering if anyone has had the repair done under the recall and how it turned out? I'm also wondering if HP is still cosmetically trashing notebooks when they are sent in for repair? Here is the link for the recall: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...842189&lang=en
Sounds like you get a virus. If possible back up your data. Format your hard drive and reload your operating system. Load and run anti-virus. Load data and applications. Run anti-virus again. That will leave you will a clean hard drive.
Please check whether your notebook Wireless Adapter is detected in the Device Manager.
Click start and in the start search box type Device Manager and press enter.
Then click on + sign next to network adapters and check whether Broadcom/intel Prowireless adapter listed under network adapters.
If it is listed in the Device Manager, then check whether you are able to ping to network.
Click start and in the start search box type cmd and press enter
This will open command prompt ( black window ) . There type ping and give one space and type 127.0.0.1 and press enter. Check whether you are receiving reply and no packet should lost. I mean lost packet should be 0.
If it is pinging to the network then the issue is with the Internet explorer. If it is not pinging or Wireless adapter is not listed in the Device Manger. Then I suspect that the issue is with the Wireless Adapter. However, to isolate the issue please install BIOS update and restart the notebook . To provide you BIOS update I need your notebook product number.
Had the same problems with my dv9205us in Feb 2008. Called HP and gave them the model and serial #s. There is a recall on certain models due to motherboard issues. The Fed-Exed a box with a return shipping label. Had the notebook back within a week at most with no cost to me at all. Give HP a call to see if you fall under the recall.
