A setup CD isn't needed to setup the linksys wireless router.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

How to do Fast and unattended setup of OS

Here I have an Idea for primary setup of a large lab quickly. Suppose you have to setup a lab where have more than twenty or thirty system but must setup it quickly. At that time if you don't have enough CD Rom drive or not enough OS installer CD then the task will take a long time. To save time at the same moment I like to prepare an unattendent operating system installation. Before this task I must check for presence of some requirement. Verify for unattended Installation: To perform an unattended installation from a CD-ROM, the following conditions must be met:The computer must support booting from a CD Rom The unattended answer file must be renamed to Winnt.sif and copied to a floppy disk so Setup can access it. So must need a floppy disk drive. The answer file must contain a valid [Data] section. This is explained later in this article. Before installation it has some conditions:

1> the installation is limited to a single partition.

2> you cannot specify third-party drivers during Setup Prepare For an Unattended Installation:

To prepare your computer for an unattended installation from a CD-ROM, I've followed these stepsFirst I've created a Folder in local drive & shared it. Then I create setup manager.I install Setup Manager by following these steps:I Open My Computer, and then open the SupportTools folder on the Windows XP CD-ROM.Double-click the DEPLOY.CAB file to open it On the Edit menu, click Select All.On the Edit menu, click Copy to Folder.Click Make New Folder. Type the name that you want for the Setup Manager folder, and then press ENTER. For example, type setup manager, and then press ENTER.Click Copy. Open the new folder that you created, and then double-click the setupmgr.exe file. The Windows

Setup Manager Wizard starts: alokerdas_2.jpg

Then I Use Setup Manager to Create an Answer File.
I open the setup manager & go to create a new answer file.
Then I go to the unattended installation & windows version option.
I have selected the fully automated option & create an answer file.

If you want Windows Setup to delete all partitions on the hard disk and to create a new partition, you must include the Repartition command in the Winnt.sif file. Under [Unattended], insert a new line, and then type "Repartition=Yes"
If you omit this line, you are prompted for the installation partition.

Add a [Data] section with the following entries to the unattended answer file:
Unattended Install=Yes - Value must be set to "yes"
MSDos Initiated=No - Value must be set to "no" or Setup stops during the graphical portion of Setup

Auto Partition=1 - If the value is set to 1, the installation partition is automatically selected. If the value is set to 0 (zero) you are prompted for the installation partition during the text portion of Setup.
Save the unattended answer file as Winnt.sif on a floppy disk.
Insert the Windows CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then insert the floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.
Change the boot order in the CMOS so that the CD-ROM is first in the list.
Restart your computer. When Setup is started from the CD-ROM, the Winnt.sif file located on the floppy disk will be used to complete the unattended installation.

Trying to boot from windows CD and not working

If its the full windows xp cd by booting it from the cd drive it will erase everything and ask if you want to upgrade or advanced install I think. Your correct in choosing the atapi cd-rom as 1st boot device. The cd should be in the drive on startup. IDE is the type of hard disk drive. I'm guessing the FDD stands for floppy disk drive which you might not have that many but you have that many bay windows available.

Put disk in, shut down computer, Start computer and it should give you the xp disk contents. Be aware of data loss though.

The setup wizard on the CD will not automatically run when inserted in the CD-ROM drive, what do i do?

  1. click on start
  2. My computer
  3. right click on CD/DVD Drive
  4. Left click auto run

selecting My Computer, right-clicking the drive that contained the CD-ROM, and selecting Properties. click the AutoPlay tab and select the Select an action to perform option, then double-click the program to use to run the CD-ROM. This action launched the program on the CD-ROM. Note that simply highlighting the program you want to use and clicking OK or Apply doesn't work; you must double-click the program and force it to launch on the CD-ROM or DVD in the drive. The CD-ROM then ran automatically, using the program associated with it on the AutoPlay tab.

Hello!

this problem is made loss connection of the hard drive, Busted battery In the motherboard, Is this new harddrive? if yes then check the jumper setting, see label setting on the hard drive. It should be the hard drive is the master. no problem with your CD rom.

solution: replace the battery in the motherboard. and fix loss connection of the hard drive. or refix all the connection inside the system.
same issue occur, try to examine the hard drive maybe maybe you have to interchange the connection of the hard drive and the CD rom. if still , then try to not connect the CD rom only the hard drive.

Failure to resolve in this solution you may either change the cable of the hard drive or change the hard drive.
