I travel a lot for my company which means living out of hotels for weeks at a time. I arrived in the Philippines on Sunday and will be here for a month. I depend on my PS2 to keep me sane with movies, music and games. After arriving here, I tried to put in a movie and it started 'jumping' a second or two ahead every few minutes. These little hops got more frequent until they were happening about every ten seconds, at which time I removed the disc. On replacing it the PS2 started making very quiet 'clicking' sounds and when I lifted the cover (I have a slim) the disc wasn't spinning. I tried several other movies and games, it seems to work normally with certain discs (always the same ones) but mostly I get the same result with the 'clicking' sound and the disc not spinning. I do not consider myself an engineer by any means, so I have not opened anything or tried to fix the problem myself. I DID notice however, that the discs it spins and reads normally are the newer ones (no scratches). What I can't wrap my head around is how the hell the damn thing knows what condition the disc is in before it tries to read it. Any ideas?

do this using gentle circular movement over the optic eye , check for heavy dust , and try to blow it, if after this don't work , coul'be the optic itself. let me know . in order to provide you with more ,information that you may need

Hotel wireless networks are not the best to be playing games on since everyone in the hotel has access to it and slows it down making the internet connection slower and unable to handle online gaming. You will just have to stick to single player games or split screen until you get home.
This means that the console reads the disk as something foreign. Region codes are encoded onto disks so you can't get really cheap disks from china and use them in the USA. You will have to get a new disk from the US.

have your serial number ready You may have difficulties reaching the call centre, or once connected, you may experience long hold times as there is a region wide telephone connectivity issue caused by the recent earthquake in Taiwan on 26 Dec 2006. Please be assured that we are working closely with our telco partners to resolve these issues as quickly as we can. We thank you for your patience. *Hold times may be 30 min or more. -->
It sounds like you have DVD drive issues. You did not say how old your machine was, or how long it's been since you bought it. Microsoft is being nice these days and will fix it for free if it's not old. So the best thing to do before you do anything is give thenm a call 1 800 4-MY- XBOX and see if they can help you. If not, then I can tell you that repairing this system is not easy and I definitely would not recommend you open it and try to fix it yourself. I'll be more than happy to fix it for you, but I don't know where you are. Good luck.
