Disk isn't spinning

I travel a lot for my company which means living out of hotels for weeks at a time. I arrived in the Philippines on Sunday and will be here for a month. I depend on my PS2 to keep me sane with movies, music and games. After arriving here, I tried to put in a movie and it started 'jumping' a second or two ahead every few minutes. These little hops got more frequent until they were happening about every ten seconds, at which time I removed the disc. On replacing it the PS2 started making very quiet 'clicking' sounds and when I lifted the cover (I have a slim) the disc wasn't spinning. I tried several other movies and games, it seems to work normally with certain discs (always the same ones) but mostly I get the same result with the 'clicking' sound and the disc not spinning. I do not consider myself an engineer by any means, so I have not opened anything or tried to fix the problem myself. I DID notice however, that the discs it spins and reads normally are the newer ones (no scratches). What I can't wrap my head around is how the hell the damn thing knows what condition the disc is in before it tries to read it. Any ideas?

No sparks for xtrail

How long ago was that? Was it long enough for rust to form inside the engine, and get into every electrical connection, every circuit on the car that didn't have a waterproof connection? Insurance companies have a name for flood damaged vehicles: "total loss". Even if you get it running again, you would never get rid of all the electrical gremlins-it would drive you crazy.
Some many years ago (1971), I was a young kid just out of the air force with a 1963 chevy pick-up, out on a lark, just seeing New Orleans and the gulf coast for the first time, trying to hook up with an old flame living in Biloxi, MS at the time, which never happened. Along came a hurricane named Camille, came ashore not far from Biloxi around 2 or 3 in the morning. I had found a shelter at a sea side hotel the afternoon before. Thought it would be a "Great Adventure" to see first hand a hurricane. I was like raw, you know? Driving along the gulf highway, storm clouds were forming, I see this big hotel with a large parking lot full of cars. The sea shore was just on my left off the highway, the parking lot was just to my right, with the hotel just behind the lot. I thought, these people must know what they are doing, seeking shelter in the hotel lobby for the storm. So I pulled my truck in there, and went inside to ride out the storm. When it got dark, the storm surge came in and covered the parking lot with about 4 or 5 feet of water. Next morning, when the surge subsided, I could only see the top half of my cab-the debris and lumber and stinky trash with the surge had filled up the parking lot. Had I pulled around to the other side of the hotel, on higher ground, no problem.
I dug my truck out, took me two days, young and innocent I didn't know squat about cars and mechanics, the whole truck was massively dented and scarred, rolled it backwards, and Aha! it started, sounded real odd and rough, but it was running. So I took it for a test drive. Went about 2 or 3 miles before the engine conked out, and that was the end of it. A hotel supervisor who organized a clean up detail for a basement bar there that was totally destroyed had seen me working out in the lot and offered me a job with their crew. I spent about a week there with them-just slept in the lobby for the first few nights afterward-the whole coast area around was pretty devastated and disorganized-but then the people at the hotel began giving me sidelong looks-I got the drift-I had overstayed my welcome, so I went uptown to a red cross shelter. About a week later, my dad and brother came down from Arkansas to rescue me. I showed them the truck, told them it was hopeless, lets just go. But they bought a towbar and we towed the truck back home. It never ran again. It didn't have not one single piece or part on it that could be taken off and even given away.

To text the philippines

The only reason that it is taking that long to reach the Philippines is because it is out of the country, and International Text Messaging takes normally around that long, unless you have a better company. What company do you use? If you have one of the major companies like Sprint,AT&T, Verizon, or Alltel, then you should be fine, but if you have MetroPCS, or Cricket, then that might be why. The other cause could be that your phone might not have good enough signal to send them instantly like they are supposed to do, and sometimes companies have network delays at times due to everyone in the world sending messages at the same time. Its just like a computer, if someone uses the network all at once, the internet will be really slow..its the same with a cell phone.
