My trusty DVD player is working. When I put in a DVD it spins and the
screen says loading, but that's all it does. It doesn't play the movie,
just keeps "loading." Is this something that I can fix or do I need a
new player?
Thank you for any assistance.
Someone just gave me one of these that was doing that. I noticed the armature that moves the laser head wouldn't move all the way in. The laser worked, the center drive spun etc. So I took off all but the battery latch screws and opened it.....and found a tiny sliver of what looked like black plastic or crud that had wedged into one of the gear teeth that moves the head. I removed that, that freed the lens armature, I closed it up, turned it on and it worked! Not saying it would be the only reason for this malfunction, but it fixed this one!

If it does it with all discs then the player is dying. If it is just the one disc I would say it is a bad disc. You can also see if there is dirt or grease or fingerprints on the laser pickup lens.
