It's probably the driver
the driver might be not installed,if your operating system is windows xp,then you need to install the driver, but windows 7 usually doesn't need any driver, but still i recommend you to install the driver
if you don't know where you can find the driver, just tell me what series is your webcam is,and i'll find it for you ^^

    i m using window 7 home basic.....

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

normally windows 7 doesn't need driver.there's should be a key in keyboard with camera picture on it, i think it between F1 till F12,well if you find the key, press it with the Fn key to enable the webcam

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

no there is no key on my keyboard with camara picture on it......

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

    i m having cyberlink you cam 3

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

well, then it gonna be a little dificult. go to device manager and see if there's a device like webcam,if not, check the USBs port and see if one of them has "?" sign on it. if there are the sign, double clik on the device and properties window will show up,make sure the device is enabled,if there's an error Code 19,restart your computer

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

in the device manager i saw that ther is no device lyk webcam..and when i saw on USBs port there is a USB port on which written unkonwn device and hve the differnet sign lyk a triangle and when i double click on that port it show the message (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43))

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2012

nah, thats probably the problem, the USB! well code 43,are you using windows 7 or vista in an old computer? allright, remove ALL device that is connected to your USB port, turn off your computer and unplug the power cord(if it's a PC) or remove the battery (if it's a laptop),leave it for minutes and turn on,if it still doesn't work, try to uninstall the USB driver, reboot, and it will reinstall the driver, and do the previous step (the unplug all USB device things)

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2012

sorry for the delay anyway,i'm using my computer only at afternoon, about 4 hours per day,and sorry for my english

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2012

plz tell the procedure of unistall the USB driverand how can i reboot this n also to reinstall the driver......

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2012

to uninstall, right click on My Computer and select Properties, then go to the Hardware tab and click Device Manager,Look for Universal Serial Bus controllers, right click on the device which is has triangle-like sign and you'll see "Uninstall" menu. Reboot=Restart computer, and the driver will reinstall automatically after you restart.so does the first procedure work?

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2012

i did it but it is still not workin it shows the msg same of error code-43

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2012

PLZ tell me when you use internet .....i use internet at night from 9 p.m

  • Anonymous Aug 25, 2012

i'm using internet only at afternoon,12-5 p.m. Well, are you sure that you've took off the power cord or the battery? make sure that there are no any single power source that connected to your computer, shutdown it,and put off the power cable (PC) or remove the battery(laptop). But if it's still happen, you can uninstall ALL device driver under Universal Serical Bus including USB Mass Storage Device, USB Host Controller, and USB Root Hub,and then restart. One more question, have you made any change to device manager before?

  • Anonymous Aug 26, 2012

i don't remove the battery ..i hve tha laptop.......n now i do so......i don't remember about the change to device manager....

  • Anonymous Aug 26, 2012

i do it again....the procedure of mine is unistall the triangle lyk sape which shown the message of unknown device then i remove tha bettery from the laptop.......n theni wait till 10 minst afer that i plugging the bettery into the laptop start the laptop the i refresh it n then i go to the my computer n then device manger then i still see the trinagle lyk sape and the is unknown device......i clear one thing that i hve a laptop of hp g-42 and the model no is 355GT..............

  • Anonymous Aug 26, 2012

if it's "unknown device" it's probably that the device driver isn't installed properly,or even not installed at all,but it's strange that normally,USB driver is installed automatically by the operating system, especially Windows 7,almost every model could install its USB driver automatically, perhaps you need to update the BIOS,herehttp://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pag... i don't know why but i can't find exactly your model,355GT,but you can try one of them. if the driver isn't compatible, try another one,or you can try to reinstall your operating system, you know, your problem is pretty difficult,i think the hardware is the problem, but still, any problem has its solution right? ^^

  • Anonymous Aug 26, 2012

Wait! don't do that step first! I'm so sorry,i'm a complete idiot fool, please forgive my foolishness,i forgot to ask you this question. Is your webcam is external webcam (that connected with cable to USB port) or internal camera (the one in the top of lcd monitor)? i think since it;s a laptop it should be internal camera, look for a key on your keyboard which has a camera picture on it,then press that key with Fn (function) key at the same time while the computer is on,this will active the webcam, once again, please forgive my foolishness

  • Anonymous Aug 26, 2012

  • Anonymous Aug 27, 2012

no i'm not,i knew that you're indian, your name, and your computer is a new release on India right? i'm Indonesian, south east asia,i like indian culture too. well, turn on your computer, when you come to the desktop, you can press the key (which has camera picture) and the Fn key at the same time, this shortcut will active the camera,if you want to incantive your camera, just press those key again,i i know that you don't want to incantive your camera right?.please tell me if your webcam works fine. Allright about your USB problem, can you give me a screenshoot of your device manager? especially on the USB controllers, i need to know what sign that is on your USB device

  • Anonymous Aug 29, 2012

the camera key should be the F4,i saw your notebook series keyboard preview and i think the camera button is F4 or the one on the right of right ALT,press it with the Fn key. pardon me,but the picture isn't to clear,i can see the sign but i can't see the text on the "Unknown Device" windows, would you please write it for me?

  • Anonymous Aug 29, 2012

seems like the F4 key is for trackpad,if your cursor cannot move after you press the key, just press it again,it might be another devices key, just keep on trying,if it's not the webcam key, just press the key again, and try another one

  • Anonymous Aug 29, 2012

hey when i press the f4 key without the fn key then its shows four thing first is compuer only 2nd DUPLICATE 3rd EXTENDS 4th JECTOR ONLY............and when i press f4 key with fn key then there is nothing have be doen in my compuer .......n which messag eu want from me to send u.....

  • Anonymous Aug 29, 2012

the one on the Unknown Device Properties,General tab,the device status. After you press f4 key with fn key, have you tried the webcam? or have you try the one on the right of the "right CTRL" button?

  • Anonymous Aug 29, 2012

the device status is Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) and the given location of device is port_#0005.Hub_#0004

  • Anonymous Aug 30, 2012

try to update BIOS using this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw... . please tell me,does your webcam working now?

  • Anonymous Aug 30, 2012

hey brother i update the BIOS befour 6 days........i stall this the current BIOS also, but it is still show the message.........and the problem of my web cam is still remain constan hey ialso want to clear one thing that i also update the web cam too,and install it also..........

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2012

sorry,my internet was shutted down these 2 days.sorry to hear that, the reasons why a webcam cannot be detected are that the cam is turned off (turned on with those key),the cam is disabled in BIOS (you may have a look for it in BIOS),the cam isn't compatible with windows 7 (the driver is not compatible with 7 also),the hardware is dead, and if you still have a warranty,i suggest you to take it to the seller for more hardware support. For you USB,that's probably that the USB driver isn't compatible with windows 7,but have you tried to connect a device to all of your USB port? if the device works well in any port, then you don't have to worry about your USB

SOURCE: HP Pavilion dv9428nr Notebook PC how to turn on

Your HP Pavilion laptop uses cyber shot to access webcam . So to turn on your webcam, click the start menu, after that, click all programs, when the program opens, you will see the list of programs on your laptop, scroll these programs and look out for "Cybershot" when you open the cypershot, allow it so load and your webcam will be ready for use.

When you snap any picture(s) or do video camera, you will find the picture you snapped or video camera in your documents. When you open your documents, you will see a cybershop folder, that's where they are stored.

Best wishes.

How do i get my web cam to come up on my computer and how can you put pics on a file

Hello,

click start menu, click all programs, from the list of programs, look out for Cyber shot, click it and that's the webcam.

After you have finished taking pics, a cyber shot folder would have been created in "My Documents". Open it and you will find the pics you snapped there.

Although not all Hp pavillion uses Cyber shot, but just check all programs, you will find the web cam there.

Take care.
