Hi,

try to perform a semi-full reset

> unplug the power chord while the printer is turned on
> press and hold the # and 3 button on the printer at the same time.
> while holding it, plug the power chord. wait for 5 seconds and release your hands.
> once the reset is finished, check whether you are having the same problem.

thanks and regards
agnel

How to repaire canon MP 510 error, wen turn printer on in the lcd diplay get message : error service required 5800

Welcome to Fixya.

Please try the following steps to resolve this problem - this same procedure worked for my colleague :
  • Power off printer
  • Hold down STOP/RESET button then Press and Hold down Power button
  • Keep Power button down and Release STOP/RESET button
  • Push STOP/RESET button twice
  • let go of power button
  • Wait 20-30 seconds - my display shows "canon Idle"
  • Then Push STOP/RESET button four times
  • Push Power button twice
  • Power off (shut printer down)
  • Wait for at least 5 seconds and power it back on
This should do the trick and will get you printing again in no time.

Thanks for using Fixya.

It shows E4 and I cant print my stuff out

Since you did not say which printer this is, I am guessing that it is a Canon:

Unplug the printer for at least 2 minutes from the wall.

2. Plug the printer back in but leave the printer turned off.

3. Enter Service Mode

a. Hold Stop/Reset button and the Power button for 5 seconds

b. Release Stop/Reset button but continue to hold Power button

c. Press Stop/Reset twice

d. Release the Power Button

e. Wait for the light to stop flashing. The printer is now in service mode. The display may be blank or simply read "Canon" during this time.

4. Do an EPROM reset.

a. Press the Stop/Reset button 3 times.

b. Press the Power button twice. The printer will save the changes and then it will reboot. A little cd/dvd icon will appear in the LCD screen.

3. The printer will probably now require the same setting up as when you first unpacked it. That is, you will need to select a language and let the printer do a head alignment.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Cantget my brother mfc 260c to work with vista

First, go to the controll panel and find your printer in the add remove software icon, but make sure the printer IS connected when you do this!

Next, unplug the printer from the USB port and unplug the power to it from the wall 120V socket.

Next, reboot the computer with both the USB and the POWER cords unplugged.

Next, when it is booted and operating, this time when it asks you, you wan't to SHUT OFF, not reboot.

Now unplug the computer's AC from the 120 V socket after it has shut off. Wait for 20 seconds before you plug it in again, and let it boot up as normally.
Next, run the install software you have downloaded assumung it is the correct version, and let it install, stil with the printer totaly unplugged.

When the software asks you, a different window will now appear telling you to first plug in the Printer's USB cord, then the Power cord and turn it on. A window should now open that you havent seen before indicating that the intallation is proceeding with a progress indicator bar. Let it finish, then it will ask you if you wish to reboot now or later(MAKE SURE THAT ALL DVD'S OR CD'S ARE REMOVED FROM ALL DRIVES BEFORE REBOOTING), then reboot computer as you would normally

This is a bit time consuming, but it is the only way to do this properly, or it just will not take, I have been down this road with quite a few individuals including myself. It is those power right down's and unplugging and plugging in in this sequence that is the key to wiping the old CACHE FILES OUT so it will take.
