RLOD or dre light od eath is caused by the following problems

1.It might be caused by overheating
2. your hardrive is corrupted and needs to be replaced or reset into the system
3.the soldering on the motherboard needs to be reflowed this can be repaired at a local repair shop that specializes in PS3 gaming console

If you're getting a Disc Read Error (DRE), it could be one or both of these things.

Your laser lens is dirty or broken and needs to be cleaned or replaced, or your disc tray is faulty and needs to be serviced.

Try cleaning the lens and see if it will read. If you can hear the disc spin in the PS3, then your disc tray is fine.

If it's the latter, make sure that the disc you are entering is in fact a PS2 format disc and that it's seated correctly. If that doesn't work, try using a different disc, and take that disc to a different PS2 to make sure that it's not defective. If the discs are fine, but the PS2 still does it, it could be a permutation of the famous DRE syndrome.the most sure-fire way is to order a new laser and install it yourself. (That is unless you are under warranty. If you are under warranty, get it to Sony right away.)

try to take it apart and clean lens and ribbon. also there is 2 lens leveler wheels crank them both to the bottom and if that does not work click them bothone up and keep trying at each level.also try to tilt console on angles with game cases that usually works. if u have done this already i apologize

Ah yes the dreaded DRE... time to replace your ps2 dude, this is the easiest and least headache solution.

try these my ps2 also fell over and i had this problem, you probably knocked the laser loose. it is a good sign tho that its reading the cleaning disc. this is really simple to do although it will void ur warranty if you do!!!!! please be sure because once you cut the seal thats all she wrote.

I believe your PS2 has a short circuit and needs another motherboard. If you know how to replace the motherboard yourself, that’s great. You can find Motherboards or a PS2 like yours that has a DRE or Disc Read Error but will boot up for about $25 on Ebay. If you’re not comfortable with Changing out your motherboard, then click on the "Repair directory" at the bottom of this screen. On the Repair Directory Screen, select Video Game Consoles. Choose a good Repair shop.

Turn them both all the way to the lowest setting.  You then have to watch the position of the little hole on the cogs. They have to move in opposite directions.  Move them 4 clicks each in the raise drive direction. Test the Discs.  CD, PS1, DVD, PS2 silver, and PS2 Blue.  Keep raising the cogs equally 4 clicks, and testing until you get all the discs reading. You should be sure that everything is working on your Laser and dsic reading before you do this though.  Use a Magnifying glass and Flashlight to look at your Laser lens real close to see if you have any film or smudges.
