My GE microwave started running by it's self. It first said 3.5oz and would not stop until door was opened. then it started beeping and wouldn't stop until door was opened. we unplug hoping it would reset...

It sounds as if you key pad is sticking. PF means that there is an input power problem but could be caused by the sticking keypad.. As far as the unit starting bu itself, the only thing that can cause that is the keypad.. Try running your fingers flat across the panel several times both vertically and horizontally and see if the pad malfunction clears. It will probably repeat in the future but you could get lucky and have a one time instance. The keypad itself is just a bit over $75.00 if it has failed. Good luck.

Main board

Not likely it's the touch buttons wearing out you can buy the tocuh pad and replace it it's not that expensive, go to www.appliancepros.com and find your model and look at the parts list and find your part, they have a break down of the parts assembly.

Whirlpool microwave MH3185XP: cancel button does not work

The symbol next to the Cancel pad means it would also be used to turn the Child Lock feature on and off.

But as it is, you have a failed membrane keypad.

Luckily, on these models you can replace the control panel frame with keypad all as one unit without doing any peel & stick.

Just remove your circuit board and drop it in the new frame.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

(There are 12 models which start with MH3185XP, so check the tag on your oven for the full model number.)

See reference number 3 on diagram number 3.

Microwave key pad stopped working

Okay, thank you for that.

You have a failed membrane keypad, but on this model, it is not available separately.

You would need to order the control panel assembly, part # WB56X10817, which you can get here for far less than GE charges.

It costs more than just a membrane would, but is much simpler to replace.

Then you remove your circuit board from the old frame and install it in the new frame.

Key pad is inactive

How long did you unplug it to reset it?

If you unplugged it for a good long time (minutes or hours) , then I would bet have a failed keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can order Panasonic parts here. Or you can contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.
