Battery won't charge

I changed the power cord recently and with the previous cord it charged normally, but with the new one it seems to refuse to charge when plugged to the wall socket. It shows on the power icon that it is there but it says that it is not charging.

So put the old power cord back on since you say it charged the battery normally. Why did you change it if it was charging the battery? It's quite possible that the new power cord is faulty. Just because it is new does not mean it works.

Remove the battery and plug the new power cord in. Does it boot the laptop up? Are you able to function with the new power cord plugged in. If so, then your battery is more than likely dead and needs to be replaced. The battery only has a useful life and once it is completely bad it will not charge.

SOURCE: the battery is not charging

Normally, one of 3 causes.

  1. Dead Battery
  2. Bad connection of battery interface on Motherboard.
  3. The AC Adapter sensing pin (In the center of the plug) is damaged (If the system cannot sense the AC adapter, the charging circuit is disabled.)
Troubleshooting:
  1. Try a different AC adapter (Any Dell D-Series system adapter is interchangable)
  2. If no difference, then next is replace the battery.  (The battery on a portable is a consumable item, and the battery life is generally 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles  around 18 months)
  3. If no change with battery or AC adapter, then the failure is the charging circuit of the motherboard.

SOURCE: Dell C400 Laptop Battery not charging

Go into the battery properties and check if the battery is charging. If it says it is, then test it, use the battery to see if it really is charging, they will sometimes give a false reading. If it's not charging, then check the power supply with an ohm meter for the proper output. If this all checks good, but the battery isn't charging, then I'm afraid you have a failed power management system on the motherboard. The power management system controls the charging along with other power related aspects of the machine. If the power management system has failed, then unfortunately, you will have to replace the motherboard in order to fix it.

SOURCE: battery will not charge

I purchased a Genuine Dell Battery, It arrived dead with 1 test light on battery itself at 0% charged, It only lasted 2 mins before the laptop died running on battery, It doesn't charge the Dell battery at all The replacement battery only shows a 1% charge every 7 hours or so, nor do I have a yellow, green, orange light, The only time I get a light on the battery led is if i'm running on batteries and the battery level is below 10%, Its orange for low battery.
Thanks in advance to anyone who could help me.

The AC jack may be damaged due to pulling on the cord. Make sure the other cord/charger/transformer is the EXACT same power spec before plugging in, it may fry the laptops internal PSU.

New battery HP g61 is fully charged but not working \

Maybe the AC Adapter Power Cord is not working. If you can't get on the laptop with the power cord then it is bad and the battery might be drained so you have no power source to power up the laptop.
If the laptop works only off the Power Cord and the batteryis not charging, then the battery is dead.

To check to make sure the Power Cord is working remove the battery and let thelatop run for 10 minutes or so.

To check to see if the battery has any charge left in it put the battery in andremove the power cord. If it won't boot or shuts down then the battery is deadand needs to be replaced if the power cord is ok.

How to tell if a105-s4074 satellite battery is bad

If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Battery light won't change colors, drops to 0% once unplugged

Let the battery completely discharge all they way and let it sit for a day or so. Some times when a battery is new most user do not let it fully charge and then completely drain this causes problems for long use batteries. Then give it a try. It also sounds like your plug your cord that connects to the battery may be faulty. Did you by a different cord with the battery? Or use the one from your old one? If you did. This is a "No No" always buy the cord that come for those battery since they are rated for the particular battery.

Yes the AC Cord does go bad , you can also look at the power jack at the back of the Laptop to see if it is loose when you plug it in. I always start with the plug they are usually cheaper than a battery.

Remove the battery and check the voltage on the battery, if low try to JUMP charge, if not replace. Also check the charging voltage with the adaptor connected to the latptop. If there is no voltage then the charger must be checked.
However if the battery and adapter seems good then the mother board is a suspect and it is ideal to get the help of Tosibha service for estimation.

Nikon Coolpix L110 camera was bought for me for Christmas 2010. Worked fine at first, but now seems to be having problems. Batteries don't last. I just bought new batteries in Feb/March this year...

You have to charge the batteries for nearly 8-10 hours. Brand new batteries also require a full recharge of 8-10 hours. Not only making sure the batteries are charged, have you changed the battery in the menu under type of batteries.
