Go to your wireless router software and click on the security setting section. Create a WEP key by providing a secret code or password that restricts access to the network. (to get access type http://192.168.0.1) Step2Be sure to choose a key with a combination of letters, numbers and symbols. These types of codes are the most difficult to break. Step3Click on the wireless connections options on your wireless router software. Find your router from the list of found servers and click on security settings. Step4Add the WEP key that you used on the main router settings to the wireless device. A lock symbol should now appear next to the name of your wireless router from the list of available routers. Step5Access the Internet via your router using only devices that have the WEP installed in their wireless settings. Without it, they will not be able to complete the connections to the network. This information must be added to all wireless devices that you plan to access via the router.

I have a new Kindle (not 3G). It recognizes the wireless network on the Llnksys WRT400, WPA2 security, but not the 15 character password. Another Kindle with 3g could not connect to the wireless network...

An important feature of SES (the 15 character password) is wireless security...if you are using wireless adapter and if you are not aware of the wireless settings of the router, at that point on the wireless adapter software you may find SES button... once you press that button, wireless security on the router would change to "WPA" and adapter will automatically pick up the "WPA" security from the router...
You cannot use SES and WPA2 at the same time. SES will only activate once you push the SES button on the adapter or sometime in the router assuming you dont know the WPA2 security, but if you do know the WPA2 no need to use SES (15 character password).

I'm trying to secure my wireless connection

Step1: Login to the router page.
Step2: Click on wireless on top second option.
Step3: Put your SSID(which would be the name of your wireless network)
Step4: Select the channel as 1,6 or 11 for greater range.
Step5: If you want the SSID to be broadscast(that means everyone withing the range of the router can see the SSID.) then check it as enable, else disable.
Step6: For putting security click on the "wireless security" option just below the wireless and select your option as WEP (as it is a easy way of encrytion) and than put your password.
Let me know if that helps.

**If this works please rate else let me know in case of further help.**

People are able to get online using my router how do i stop that

You will need to secure the wireless network. that means you need to put a password on the wireless network. Once you secure the wireless network, no one will be able to get online using your network.
To secure the wireless network, you will need to open the router set up page. on this page you will find all the wireless settings of the router.
Before changing any wireless settings on the router, make sure that your computer will be connected to the router.
If you do not have any computer connected to the router, then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.

Security of wireless network

You can directly connect your computer to the router thorugh the routers "internet" port and then re-run setup. OR you can type the IP address of the router into your address bar (the default is tipically 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and then enter the router username and password (I believe the Belkin default is username:"Admin" password:"Password") in the admin control planel look for a "wireless security" tab. You can then define your wirelss security settings there. Just remember to configre the same settings on all devices that will connect to the router.

Security

Go to the router's web interface (192.168.1.1), in the wireless section go to Wireless Security. Enable WEP, you will create a WEP key for your wireless network, then that key will be asked to any wireless device that tries to use your wireless network.
