That's odd you may think, but i see a reason:
By pressing on the bottom sides, you are moving components ever so slightly. The hard drive, the RAM, any of them could be seated incorrectly. When you push on the sides, it aligns them correctly, making it boot up. My solution:
Open the case, and check and make sure that all parts are snug and safe inside the case. Make sure to unplug the power before you open any device!!!

What is a normal GGT level How high can they go ? At what point does a raised GGT level become a major concern

I am not a doctor, nor am I providing medical advice. I encourage you to speak with an actual licensed practitioner, I myself happen to have liver disease and I'm concerned with my AST's & ALTs > What I found online: The higher a person's blood level of GGT, the greater the risk of cardiovascular *****. The levels are given in units per liter (U/l) of blood. Normal low is less than 9 U/l for women and less than 14 U/l for men. A moderately high value for GGT is 18 U/I for women and 28 U/I for men. High levels (twofold elevated) are more than 36 U/I for women and 56 U/I for men. The link below informs even more:
What does high GGT count indicate

Door no closer

Most refrigerators do not have self closing doors. You can usually get the doors to close themselves by raising the front of refrigerator slightly by turning the levelers located at the corners. Keeping the unit level or slightly elevated at the front should do the trick.

I can lower theblade but it is very difficult to raise and now its not raising at all just gets tighter until you hear a snaping sound

Try spraying the pivot points with soy based lubricant. It is very slick and should help ease the friction of raising the blade.

Why does my computer shut off while still being used

It will often do that when it over heats. Do you have it sitting on a cooling pad? Or do you at least have the rear raised off of the desk so that some air can get underneath? If not try elevating it so there is air between the bottom of the laptop and the surface on which it is sitting.

How do I raise the feed dog in my Elna 5000, a machine I recently inherited.

I have a 7000 manual and from memory the 7000 was released a year after the 5000 and very similar. Look at top middle image below, for feed dog release at back of the sewing free arm.
tally_girl_19.jpg At the back of the sewing free arm (remove the accessories tray) is a slide to lower the feed dogs, there is a little stub that you need to push to release it. Manual says "Drop the feed by pushing the slide (a), which is at the rear of the elevated sewing surface, to the left. To raise the feed dog again, press down the stud (b) and the feed dog will rise when you start sewing." You might need to wind the flywheel towards you half a turn to visually check they have come up.

Checking automatic transmission fluid levels

THE 5 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

At the bottom of the automatic gearbox (tiptronic) you will find one threaded plug on below surface, (follow red arrow in the picture below). This is for emptying.

tdisline_324.jpg

The oil level threaded plug is placed on the car front lateral automatic gearbox surface, (follow yellow arrow in the picture below).

tdisline_325.jpg

The filling oil plug is placed on the upper automatic gearbox surface, (follow green arrow in the picture below).

tdisline_326.jpg

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) checking:
1. Requirements for check:
1.1. Vehicle standing on level surface.
1.2. Transmission must not be in fail-safe mode.
1.3. Shift lever in "P" position, parking brake applied.
1.4. Engine idling.
1.5. Air Conditioner and heater OFF.
1.6. ATF temperature must not exceed 104 Fahrenheit degree (40 Celsius degree) at start of test.
1.7. Automatic gearbox oil capacity: 2,5 liter. Only ATF with VW designation may be used. Do not use any lubricant additives.
1.8. Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF - part number: VW G 052 990 A2
1.9. An ATF level check when transmission oil temperature is too low results in overfilling, when too high results in underfilling.
2. CAUTION: Too much or too little ATF will affect the operation of the transmission. The ATF level must be checked at regular intervals.

How high can I pump up to a drain.

I have the same question....since I own a cabin with no basement floor drains. I have to pump my washer discharge to a main level drain.

To check the elevation needed, hook a garden hose to the discharge line and, after running the discharge end outside, raise or elevate the line using a line and tree branch to determine the height at which pump discharge quits. 33 feet equals appoximately 1 atmos or 14.7 psig.

45 and 33 sound slow

Here's a procedure for setting the tonearm...

Look up the recommended tracking force for your cartridge/stylus.

Unplug the power to the turntable and place it on a perfectly level surface.

Set the Tracking Force and AntiSkating to 0.
Using the tonearm elevation control, raise the tonearm.
Manually move the tonearm in toward the platter.
Manually rotate the platter Clockwise a few turns to disengage any cueing mechanisms.
Disengage the tonearm elevation control. The tonearm will either float or drop. This is why we have no power, just in case it hits the platter.
Adjust the counterweight until the tonearm floats exactly horizontal. Use the flat portion of the tonarm rest as a gauge.
Return the tonearm to its rest.
If you don't have a Stylus Tracking Force Gauge. Dial in the prescribed tracking force and a corresponding anti-skate reading. Play records.
