To those who are posting that your washer is filling but not agitating or spinning, check the lid switch. Often times the bar that engages the lid switch gets bent or some play in it and will not fully engage the switch. You can check the switch by feeling for the switch (usually on the left side near the back - under the top) and engaging it with a screwdriver. I was able to get mine working by pounding it with my fist above the switch, with the door closed (Fonzi style :) I then bent the metal bar by holding it with pliers, and with the door halfway open, I pryed the door up while holding the bar tightly with the pliers.

If you are referring to suspension rods or shock absorbers, just replace them.

Probably not. It should initially activate pump but pump should cut off when filling with water. Call factory service.

Few washing machines use a water pump driven by the main motor - most have a separate motor/pump assembly.

Clearly there is more wrong with your washer than is immediately obvious. Not sure what is meant by the motor "tries" to run - surely it either runs or it doesn't?

Perhaps you mean because the motor isn't running you can hear the buzzing noise some controllers produce?
I am guessing either the controller is faulty or the controller thinks the tub is empty because something has gone wrong with the water level switch and so refuses to switch on the pump..

Clearly somebody with suitable experience should take a look inside.

Many laundry machine hoses require a physical air gap, or air break, between end of hose & standpipe drain. This prevents both siphoning & sewer water backup entering washing machine... ( UPC ill. Manual for picture) ... Buzz*
