I need the wireing schematic for a maytag twospeed two belt washer

More than likely the transmission coupler has broke. Go to maytag.com and look up transmission coupler repair/ parts/ schematics. They really are not that hard to replace. Maytag washers have two belts one for turning the pump and the other for making it spin. Sounds like the belt for the spin needs to be replaced. It is something that you can do. Maytag washer belts are quite easy to change. Hope this helpedd. Thank you for using Fix ya.

If you have a problem I can certainly point you in the right direction. I have been working on Maytags since the late 60's. Even had to fix my own Maytag washer earlier this year :(

The MAYTAG Service manual (PN 56283), Maytag 2 belt washer - is no longer available - This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source for the part.

I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the washer or dryer ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and found that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video made it possible for me to do my own repair. If you are repairing a dryer or a front load washer I suggest you
go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on both washers and dryers as well as other appliances. If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart this video is an early christmas present. I was so impressed with it that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about it. If you look at the back of your washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video is just what you need. You can see it at www.acmehowto.com You will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. After viewing the video or if you have a v-belt drive rather than a direct drive, I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair nformation on most
washers and dryers. I think you'll find what you need
there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever

I don’t believe you will find a schematic for the control board. I have a FAV6800AW all I have be able to find is the wiring schematic found in the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW Service Manual.
Is your machine out of the 5yr warranty period for the Control Board? I got Maytag to send me one.

Let me explain to you how the Maytag washer lid switch works.
The lid switch is located on the controls panel, and is activated by opening and closing the washer door. The purpose of the lid switch is to prevent the washer from working with the door open.


It is a safety device to prevent the user from sticking their hands inside of the washer while the washer is agitating or spinning.


When the washer lid switch stops working, the result could be that the washer won't wash, drain, spin and in some cases the washer will not work at all.

You will need a multimeter to check the internal contacts on the washer lid switch.


You will also need to use the wiring schematic to see what contact should be close when the lid switch supposed to be on.


You will need to remember that the Maytag washer lid switch is one of the first parts that you will need to check, when the washer don't want to start filling, agitating, draining or spinning.

A green wire is usually the safety ground. If it has a ring terminal on it, it will go to a mounting screw or nut. Find the schematic to be sure. Check Repairclinic.com.

Although I'm not familiar with that particular model, most Maytag washers have the belts under the washer (no need to remove the front panel) --- just tip the washer back and check to see if the belts are underneath.
