I have an LG LDF7811BB that's about 5 years old. For the last couple weeks, I've noticed an odor, like a chemical smell. Tonight my husband was home when I was running it and I asked him to go take a whiff and see if he thought it was strange. He said it's an electric burn smell. After doing some reading online, it sounds like it's probably the electric control board. My husband was a tech for years and used to do this kind of thing. Is the swapping of the control board a pretty easy thing for someone who has experience with repairing electronics and such?

Chemical smell in kitchen. is it coming from my brand new refrigerator?

the odors are normal for some new refrigerators, its due to the type of plastic used, let it cool and put coffee inside both compartments or baking soda as these 2 items will remove odors, after the odors gone continue to keep a box of baking soda in each compartment to control all food or plastic odors, this should help remove your odor problem

We have a rinnai convector gas heater and when we turn it on it fills the room with a horrible gassy smell.

There are a couple of things that can cause this odor. But, being sure it's really a gassy odor is more important. It must smell like "rotten eggs" to be gas. If that is the odor you're smell, turn the heater of and contact an authorized Rinnai dealer for service.

If however the odor does not meet the "rotten egg smell", there are other things that cause the odor, but it's not really from the heater.

If you have painted or stained within the last 2 weeks, the heater has picked up the odor of the fumes (which you probably didn't notice) and has made time 50 times worse. The same holds true for carpet cleaning or new carpeting odors. If this fits the scenario, discontinue using the heater for a week or two until the odors subside. In the meantime, if weather allows, air the house out. Also, remove and clean the heaters filter, before restarting the heater,

I hope this helped you to troubleshoot & solve the problem.

Is there any health issues with using a Living Air Filter in your home? A couple of years ago, I heard there was legislation being proposed to ban their use in California.

California Air Resources Board was paid to ban any non-commercial Ozone-producing machines from being shipped into the state. Volarra, didn't want to spend the money to DEMAND they produce a list of injured parties, ALWAYS a part of any ban on a product. When I called them they said they knew of no injuries or medical lawsuits. I've never heard of any...after 9 years. Green Environmental Technologies installs the Space-Certified part into Hospital Surgical rooms, the OLD ozone technology got rid of my 2 boys teen-room odors and they stopped using their inhalers. Went from 4 per month for 15 years for the both of them, to 4 per year. GET also went to the Atlantis Casino and purified their KENO room with a single OLD technology commercial unit. GET-GreenTech.com They've been commercial certified, mold certified, have a PhD on staff, with partners across the country. This technology is good enough to fight a toxic chemical spill, so YES there's a chance that you could overuse it. But like the water tap, you should learn the symptoms of it being too high. Headaches, pool bleachy smell, sore throat in the morning that goes away pretty fast. These machines are supposed to be on as LOW as possible!

My turned on the kitchen cold water tap last week and the smell of petrol that came out was over powering ! It's still very strong I don't know what to do ! How do I clean it is there a chemical I...

Unless a petroleum product was poured into your well or the ground water around it was contaminated with it and it leeched into the well water, I suspect the odor you smelled was a high mineral content odor. This sulfur odor is often associated with the deep artesian wells and can be rather strong. Normally, it's caused by a seasonal change in the underground water table. If you didn't get the odor from the hot water tap, that's an indication, that when the water is heated to a high temperature the odor dissipates. But, to be on the same side, I would recommend that you have you water supply tested for contaminants. Generally, your local health department or a water testing company can do this for you. If it's what I think it is, the well can be treated.

Hope this helped to address your concerns,

Chemical odor

This can be a result of chemical reaction in internal parts. If you notice it is faint the keep orange peels to get off the smell. It could be the freon. It is kind of like your a.c. in your car. It is the gas that makes it cold. You might have a leak. Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

Kenmore side-by-side has CHEMICAL SMELL ODOR inside.

You have a freon leak. With this only being 5 years old, iot's probably worth repairing, unless you are just able to buy a new one. I would have a local tech come out and check it before tossing it. I hope this answers your question and gives you some resolution. I hope to work with you again, so please record our name, email and phone number for future needs. Have a great evening!

Bad odor coming from drip pan when compressor kicks own[when dry]

I just had the same problem with my kenmore side by side. I have been noticing a nasty smell for the last couple weeks when the fan comes on. My husband just took the whole back of the refrigerator apart and put a flashlight in there. We could see the drip-pan and it was filled with stinky black mold!! It was very hard to remove, but he managed to get it out by taking the lower front (where the filter goes) apart and then he was able to slide out the drip pan and clean it out! Problem solved.....but Kenmore should really make the drip pan more accessable!

3 ton goodman heat pump package unit, odor coming from vents

I ran upon this a few years agoafter 20+ years in the industry it is actually called "DIRTY SOCK". In the winter the drain pan and trap dry out and all the junk left behind when the summer rolls around mix with the condensateand cause the odor. "Home owner fix" pour a cup of bleach down the drain and in the pan let sit for about an hour then pour a gallon of hot water, that usually takes care of it.
