Tip & How-To about Washing Machines

How to Buy Appliance Parts Online

If you are having problems with your appliance and need to buy parts, where do you go to find them and how is the best way to go about purchasing the parts that you need.

The best way that I have found to buy appliance parts online is to just do a search for “appliance parts”. When you do that you will have a large number of different websites come up from your search.

You will then need to have the model number of your appliance handy. The make will usually be identified by the model number so just the model is usually sufficient. Sometimes a model number will not work in one site, so try a different site.

When the parts page comes up you usually will have access to “exploded diagrams” which will help you to identify the part that you need. The pictures on some of the sites are better then others, so look around till you find what you need.

Once you know what you need, check out another site or two, or three. The price you get from one may be quite different from another. Also just because site A had the best price for one part, it may not have the best price for the next part you need. It seems that the different sites will use some parts to get you to buy and then soak you for another part.
Always compare prices with a number of sites to ensure the best pricing.

You can opt for faster shipping at most sites if you are willing to pay the extra costs. Most sites have warehouses in different parts of the country and can get the parts to you in a day or two, even with the regular shipping options.

I purchase parts from an appliance parts supply. You could also purchase elements let's say from a Home Depot. You can buy used parts from area used appliance stores. Nowadays you can purchase almost anything on-line.

Hello.

Yes.

With the growing popularity of Dryer comes a whole different set of washer problems then what was experience with the older Dryer. Front load washers are built quite a bit differently and have many different parts than top load machines.

One of the most common problems with
Dryeris that the shock absorbers that hold the tub in place can break. These shock absorbers steady the tub during the wash and spin cycles. It is when the spin is happening that they take the worst beating. It is also during the spin cycle that the breakage will be most evident. If your load is even a little bit out of balance and the shocks are broken, you machine may dance all over the floor and sound like an airplane about to take off.

The tub will flounder around uncontrollably and the clothing will come out very wet because of the tubs inability to maintain the spin speed needed to wring out the water.
To see if your machine has broken shock absorbers, remove the bottom cover and look in. About halfway back on either side will be a small cylinder that moves in and out to absorb the movement of the tub. Often the loop that has a pin through it to secure it to the machine will be broken. Sometimes there will be no visible damage, but if you unhook one end of the shock, the slide movement will be very easy and there will be no resistance. The shock should be in and out fairly hard; this is what holds and steady?s the tub of the machine.
The parts are easy to find online by doing a search for ?appliance parts? and then entering your model number in the box provided by most websites. The replacement is fairly easy and can be done by most people with a bit of patience and a few hand tools.
