Most laptops just have a software switch now, usually it is a function on the F keys or the number keys at the top. Your typical wireless symbol looks like a stick with a few parenthesis around it. All you should have to do is hold down the function key and press the corresponding key that belongs to the wireless on/off function. This feature typically only works with Windows though so if you are using another operating system you are on your own.

SETTING UP A WIRELESS PRINTER WITHOUT A WIRELESS ROUTER - WINDOWS 7
Install Virtual Router first "Turn any Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 Computer into a Wifi Hot Spot."
EditByBSEditor: Virtual Router turns any Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 Computer into a Wifi Hot SPOT using Windows 7's Wireless Hosted Network (Virtual Wifi) technology.
The Wireless Network Create/shared with Virtual Router uses WPA2 Encryption, and there is not way to turn off that encryption. This is actually a feature of the Wireless Hosted Network API's built into Windows 7 and 2008 R2 to ensure the best security possible.
You can give your "virtual" wireless network any name you want, and also set the password to anything. Just make sure the password is at least 8 characters. http://www.brothersoft.com/virtual-router-327895.html Then install Connectify-Me Connectify is an easy to use software router for Windows 7 computers. After downloading and installing the lightweight application, Connectify utilizes your computers' built in Wi-Fi card to wirelessly share any available Internet connection: a cable modem, a cellular card, or even another Wi-Fi network. Other Wi-Fi enabled devices including laptops, smart phones, music players, and gaming systems can see and join your Connectify hotspot just like any other Wi-Fi access point and are kept safe and secure by password-protected WPA2 Encryption. http://www.connectify.me/ Then reboot computer

Wifi not working in windows 7

Good ole Windows 7, just a tad bit better than Vista. I would never get rid of my Windows XP Operating System to be on either of those unstable operating systems.

OK, so are you near the wireless router, if not go near it and then try to connect. If you don't see it as one of your available wireless networks, then you have to make sure that the Wireless Switch is turned on.

If you are sure it is turned on, then there are also keystrokes that turn the wireless on and off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key then hit the correct F1 thru F12 key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key will have the wireless icon on it such as )))) or it might be a tower with ))) around it. Normally when you toggle the wireless by keystrokes your screen will display something like Wireless On or Wireless Off.

If you still have problems download and reinstall the wireless drivers.
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HPSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Wireless drivers.

How to enable bluetooth on my hp pavilion dv7

link to driver if not installed alredy

if driver installed :

Check that your PC has a built-in Bluetooth device by consulting its user guide. If it does not, you'll need to buy an external receiver often referred to as a "dongle" and connect it to a spare USB port.

Ensure that your wireless and Bluetooth receiver is turned on. Touch the antenna symbol next to your PC's volume control. It will turn blue when it's on and amber when it's off.

Go to the "Control Panel" from the start menu and select "HP Wireless Assistant" if you're using XP. You'll need to go via "Network and Internet" if you're running Vista or Windows 7.

Make sure your Bluetooth adapter is enabled. If you get a warning that it's not, click on "Windows Device Manager," right-click on your Bluetooth device and select "Enable."

Go back to the "HP Wireless Assistant" window and press the "Turn on" button next to the Bluetooth icon if it's not already showing as being activated. Your Bluetooth device is now on and you're ready to connect to another enabled unit.

How to switch on wirless in my loptop

Hi nishapramod2.
You may use the Wireless Connection by turning ON the Physical Wireless Switch.
The Physical Wireless Switch should be mentioned at the corners of the Notebook.
The Switch will usually be a "Slider".
First, turn ON the Physical Wireless swtich.
Then, if you are using the Windows Vista or Windows 7 Operating System, you may enable the Wireless Connection through the Windows Mobility Center.
Please click on the "Windows logo" and type "Windows Mobility Center" in the search option.
This should open the Windows Mobility Center.
Please try performing the above steps which I have mentioned.
This should resolve the issue.
Hope this helps.
Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

Greetings, trying to figure out why my toshiba 5205-S504 cannot access local wifi. Some sort of internal wifi device installed and was working until I reverted back to factory conditions and dummy me...

Use the config-Free software to diagnose your connection. Click Start=>All programs=>Toshiba=>Networking=>Config free. It will show you what is wrong and will allow you to enable the wireless if it is not enabled. If for some reason you cannot find ConfigFree you can do the "repair" yourself.

On your Satellite there should be a switch to physically turn the wireless adapter. The wireless adapter must be turned on: its Led should be lit. There is the image of an antenna near the LED.

This done, you should use the start button ( I am describing the procedure for Windows XP Pro) and click the Connect To submenu =>Show all connections.
In the list of available connections, point to the Wireless adapter and make sure it is software activated. Point with mouse cursor, and right click the icon. Select Enable.
If Windows is managing the wireless connections, you should use it to detect the available wireless networks. To do so, right click the wireless connection and select View Wireless networks. It will show you all the available ones. Select the one you have authorized access to and click connect. You will be prompted to enter a key if necessary and you take it from there.

If you perform the foregoing step and Windows is not the one managing your connections, then you must use the Vaio connection manager (could be Intel PROSet wireless) or some other proprietary one.

Good luck.
