Having worked for a consumer electronics company we had a trick that helped in many occasions. You can give it a bash and see if it helps.
Plug the TV directly into the wall socket and turn the power at the wall off. Then if your TV has any power buttons other than the standby button turn it off. Now hold the standby button on the TV in for 30 seconds. After that turn power back on and see if it helps. this works about 30-40% of the time. If nothing happens a repair or replacement will be called for.

Seems there is a short in the board caused by the instant power outage. So it is necessary to open the set to have a view. It seems possible there is a damage on the drivers on the power board to the lcd panel. You will need to trace by checking for short , check for components heating - since the power is tripping due to the short which makes it feedback it as a protection to cut off.

Remove power leads to suspected section to confirm as the power will build up. You will need some experience to work by tracing if not please do not tamper but get help.

I have a 52 inch Samsung LCD TV and it made a popping noise last night and now it is not working at all. It is only 3 years old and Samsung said that it is not under warranty any more. What could this

Capacitor(s) could have been the root cause of the problem but unfortunately modern electronic circuits tend to be like a line of dominoes so when one component fails, it rarely fails alone...

You have my sympathy. I enquired at a large local electrical retailer while I was looking around for a new fridge and the lastest huge and hugely expensive plasma screen tv caught my eye. I asked the sales chappie about how long they lasted, about repairs and suchlike. He told me they last about 3 years and no one ever has them repaired - as if I believed that.
Looking around though, few electronic or electrical items have a warranty that exceeds 3 years and many that have more than a one year warranty carry a price premium, though that same retailer would extend the warranty indefinitely for an annual charge. It is in fact nothing to do with the manufacturer or retailer standing behind the quality of their equipment but in reality it is similar to calculating odds and making a wager and in the matter of wagers there are winners and losers, though the casino never loses...

As Samsung have paid for their mistake and seem determined to pay no more, to make any exceptions would be like admitting liability all over again and reopening the floodgates. The only possible way forward would be to obtain an engineer's report and the serial numbers of the affected tv sets.

A modern tv is in fact more computer than tv and contains the same ultra-sensitive Cmos circuit chips as a computer which could have been damaged by a voltage surge a year ago and finally failed last night. Perhaps the problem isn't capacitor related...

Hi.
It appears that your are having a tube failure issue.

Either that, or you have a capacitor problem.

Both can act like that, but as a rule the tube acts more like that when it fails than the other parts of the tv.

The tubes are replaceable, and are available from Fry's and BestBuy.

If it winds up that it is the capacitors instead, then I would take the tv to either Fry's, BestBuy, or RadioShack.
These companies have specially trained techs for just that repair, as it takes special skills to deal with the voltage and power that capacitors can hold in them.

I hope that this helps you out some, and good luck!
