Turns off and sometimes comes back on by itself

We have a Samsung 42" flat screen approx. 5 years old. It just turns off and we have to leave off for awhile and it will turn back on for a little while, sometime 10 min and sometime 2-3 hours. It has a few times turned off and then come right back on. We tried turning off for several hours over night, but that did not help.

DLP --- need to exchange the thermostat.
LCD --- replace the Main Board.
PDP --- need to check Power Board or Y-Main

This is usually a capacitor has failed....cheap to repair if done yourself!

I have a 4 year old Samsung Plasma. While watching tv, the tv will turn off and then keep trying to turn back on, but is never able to turn back on. We unplug it, then after 1/2 hour it will work again...

You have a better chances if you have failing bad capacitors on the power supply board...

bad capacitors sometimes bulged on top,sometimes not...if the caps is bulged you can easily identify it..

My 42 inch samsung plasma wont turn on, it keeps making the clicking sound every 5ish seconds like its trying to turn itself on but nothing... then after a while it will come on, perfect working order then...

You have bad caps on the SMPS. Either replace the caps or replace the SMPS

Magnavox 42 LCD 42mf438b/f7 turns on/off by itself sometimes screen goes blank tv unresponsive to remote

I have exactly the same problem with a Magnavox LCD 42", very similar model 42MF437B/37. I don't have a solution. If you unplug the TV and plug it back it starts working, sometimes for hours, sometimes for less than 5 minutes, before it turns off again. Does anyone have any real solution?

New JVC flat screen cuts off 10 sec. after cutting on

1. Hold [menu] and [vol-] button on the side of the TV
2. while holding these, press the [power] button on the side of TV (NOT remote)
3. blue light comes ON and stays ON
4. wait 10 seconds then let go of [menu] and [vol-]
5. wait another 30 seconds and some type of picture should appear

The screen on my plasma tv keeps turning itself off....

it seams that your tv is high heated or it is needed to change some of the tranzistors... as it seams the damage isnt realy bad..but it need an "experts hand" to be fixed
