Line faults & possible causes to LCD & Plasma screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent. Faults to all LCD & Plasma screen are similar, irrespective of its brand and screen size./
According to what i could find, there is no way to actually SOLVE the problem, this is what i did find;
The plasma display panel is lighting the phosphors by the
discharge of internal radiation. Depending on the screen
contents, in rare cases this may cause vertical stripes to appear
because of failure to light. Please note that this is not a
malfunction.

Hello Depending how wide the line is their could be two possible causes.
I have two questions for you.
1. How wide is the line.
2. Does it run from top of screen to bottom of screen?
If the line is thin a single strait line then it is possible the PDP has gone Bad (Panel). (Screen). The screen will to be replaced.
If the line is at least 2 or more inches wide then its a buffer board which can be replaced. LG calls this board Hand insert Boards or display driver boards..
If this is a very thin (pencil line) line, The problem is the panel. I hope that this is in warranty. The panel cost more than the TV. If it is larger than that. The problem can be the main control board ( if it is a LCD TV). If it is a Plasma TV the driver board is bad.
IF THE LINE IS ABOUT 1INCH WIDE THE CHANCES ARE IT WILLBE YOUR PLASMA DISPLY THAT HAS GONE . WOULD BR CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW UNIT . HOWEVER TRY RINGING HITACHI EXPLAIN THE FAULT COMPLAIN THAT IT SHOULD OF LASTED LONGER THAN THE WARANTY AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT
