Hi,
you could have one of several problems here.
i,d suggest printing several test pages, and observe whether the red comes through after this.
if this does,nt work remove the cartridge, and replace ensuring the cartridge goes in with a firm click.
finally if you have the original software installed for the printer, try a head cleaning operation.

Epson DX7450 won't recognise compatible cartridges

This is a common problem and is caused by faulty or missing chips onthe compatible cartridges. You will need to get them replaced otherwise the printer will not operate. Contact the vendor where you bought them from and ask for repalcements or a refund.

Don't know how to move the cartridges to replace the ink.

Please follow the instructions below to ensure correct installation:
  1. Lower the printer's output tray and open the top cover.
  2. Connect the power cable to the printer.

And switch on the printer.

The print heads will now move to the replacement position. If they do not move to a change position press the Red ink button on the printer.

  • Lift up the ink cartridge clamps.

Before you open the new ink cartridge package, shake it four or five times. Then remove it from the package.

Do not touch the green chip

Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the ink cartridge.

You must remove the yellow tape from the cartridge before installing it; otherwise, print quality may decline or you may not be able to print.

If you have installed an ink cartridge without removing the yellow tape, take the cartridge out of the product remove the yellow tape, and then reinstall it.

Do not remove the transparent seal from the bottom of the cartridge or the label on the cartridge; otherwise the cartridge may become unusable or ink will leak.

Place the ink cartridge into the cartridge holder with the bottom down. Then push down the ink cartridge until it clicks into place.

Repeat steps 4 to 6 for each ink cartridge.

  • Close the ink cartridge cover and press it until it clicks into place

If you find it difficult to close the cartridge cover, make sure all the cartridges are firmly seated. Press down on each cartridge until you hear it click into place. Do not attempt to force the cover closed.

    1. Close the printer cover and press the ink or start button to begin charging the system. Charging can take up to three minutes and is complete when the power light stops flashing.
While the ink system is charging do not switch off the printer.

EPSON PRINTERS how to replace inks in epson DX 7450

You must surely have sorted this one out by now Doris! However, if you haven't, how to change print cartridges on a DX7450 is very clearly explained in the user handbook (on the CD that came with your printer). Insert the CD and select "Custom Install" then "Users Guide". Once its installed, double click the new Epson Icon on your screen and selct "Printing" then "Replacing Ink Cartridges". If you don't have a CD, download the User's Guide from the Epson website at http://www.epson.com - just choose your locale, then select Get Drivers and Support - Printers.

Epsom stylus all in one dx7450

press 'Control' + 'P' on a page (as tho you want to print)
    click 'Maintenance'
there you'll find various options to clean heads etc, that should do it. tho it does deplete your inks considerably each attempt. & you'll probably find it needs more than one clean.Good luck!
