Tv turns on by itself

Pull batteries out of the remote control and keep it that way, just to see if maybe power button on remote control is being pressed/faulty. Also check the auto turn-on option of your TV, it might be set to a specific time to power on/off. This would be noticable if TV is powering on at specific time of day.

The voulmn goes down to zero by itself and remains there for a few minutes. then i can use remote to raise volumn

Well, I'd make sure that there are no remotes in the vicinity or that their batteries are removed and then let the TV run to see if it still happens. If it still happens after the remotes have been removed from the equation, then you are probably dealing with a stuck button on the TV or a prankster.

No sound on Sharp Aquos 37' LC-37D4U

When I first bought my Sharp Aquos 42 inch TV...I started having sound problems...turned the volume way up to 60 maximum and could hardly hear it.
Then after the TV was on for 4 or 5 hours, there would be crackling chirping popping noise. It seems after the TV heats up for awhile...there is MAJOR sound problems.
So I was advised to buy a Sony surround system and connect it to my TV...deactivate the TV volume and use ONLY the surround sound. I did that...but the surround audio cables are connected to the back of the TV and I get the exact SAME problem with chirping and crackling sounds after the TV heats up.
SHARP IS NOT BEING HONEST WITH CUSTOMERS.
There should definitely be a RECALL on the sound board.
Replacing it does nothing....the overheating of the TV just damages the new sound board and the TV has to be repaired again and again.

Problem connecting my PS3 to my Sharp Aquos LC-C3237U LCD TV

Your PS3 set itself above the max resolution your LC-C3237U. Most likely the PS3 is doing 1080P, but the highest the Sharp can do is 1080i. So do this:

1. Connect PS3 to TV (you can use the current cable or analog cable)
2. Turn on TV and set input to port PS3 is on.
3. Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
4. Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/kevin_c38b47f462e94458

After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..5. Hi,You have to check if the replacement power supply board is the same part no. as the original one, it is printed on the board itself.I don't think that the fault came from defective electrolytic capacitor because like what you have said, the unit is new out of the box and you've already replaced the power supply board which is most of faulty electrolytic capacitor came from that board. You've mentioned also that the original power supply board has cracked, I've suspected that the main board also has been damaged because the blinking led light error codes will be encountered if the power supply board or main board gone to malfunction. If you've confirm that the power supply board is the same part no. like the original one, then I would advice you to replaced the main board. Please let me know if you need further assistance.Have a great day!Mjsazon

Heard a pop and tv

Hello
The power supply board to your tV is faulty. The sound you heard is due to a bursted capcitor. If you are aware in electronics and efficent in servicing LCD TVs, open your tV and locate the switching power regulator section. Look for any bulged or bursted capacitors in it. If is there, replace it with same capacity and size. Its capacity will be mared on it body intself in MFDs units. I hereby attaches a picture [not the power board of your TV; but to know you what a bulged capcitor will look like.

gopakumarg43_78.jpg Look at the red arrow marked capacitors. They are all damaged [bulged] ones. You can see a good one at the top right of the baord. The only repair work that can be done with power supply of LCD TVs are, replaceing these types of capacitors if any. If you cannot see any of them like this in your TVs power supply [the picture of Sharp LC series LCD TVs power supply is attached below]; the pop sound you heard is from the switching transformer. It is very difficult to replace them and very rare to get from open electronic spare part market. if this is the case, you have to replace the power board as card basis, and it is good too; rather than making "surgery" to it.

gopakumarg43_79.jpg
This is the power board to your TV. As you can see, it will be very difficult to replace any component to it, and you must have a good concept of desoldering and soldering and equipments ot do the work. After replacing the power supply some adjustments to it should be done to accept the new power board to main system board. In rare cases, the main system board will accept the replaced power board. If so you are lucky. If you haven't enough knoledge in this matter, get it repaired by any well experienced service techinician or by the authorised service center for Sharp at your town
If you want any more assistance from me, feel free to get me by Fixya. OK.

I have no sound from

Hi.

A common occurrence is audio circuit getting damaged when you plug/unplug the cables. That is particularly common if you disconnect or connect cables with power on.

Double check cables. Check audio settings and test the TV using headphones (or speakers on audio jack). If speakers work the problem is either settings or the plate with AV connectors, which integrated with main digital board inside TV.

If settings are OK, connections are OK and there is no audio, then the TV is defective. In that case the TV must be tested.

Here extract from service documentation describing testing when there is no sound:

"Check Pin (53) of IC2001Pins (1) and (7) of IC3302, IC3303, IC3304
Are inputs at Pins (2) and (4) as well as outputs at Pins (8) and (12), all of IC3305, as specified?
Check if muting effect is on. Check the FSMUTE line.
Check IC3302- 3304 and their peripheral parts.
Are input and output of IC3301 as specified?
Check IC3304 and its peripheral parts.
Check the line in question, IC3304 and its peripheral part
Check Pin (58) of IC2001

Are outputs at Pins (14) and (15) of IC3501 as specified?
Check the line in question
Check the LMUTE linheck IC3501, IC3301 and its peripheral parts
Is output at Pins (15) and (16) of tuner as specified?
Is input at Pin (67) of IC3301 as specified?
Check IC3304, X3301 and their peripheral partCheck the tuner and its peripheral partCheck Q3201, Q3202 and their peripheral partNo sound from output line."

Power light comes on but nothing on the screen.I

hi,
Is there is sound on your tv. Is there is any light in the screen. If not, then Backlight inverter is faulty. All lcd tv have backlight to light the pixels. If you watch the screen very near then you will be able to see image on the screen. First of all check is there is any budged capacitors in the power supply. If there then replace it will solve the problem. If no then check the inverter board. Do on thing check the fuse in the inverter board. If the fuse is faulty then replace it. If the fuse blews again then the inverter board is short you have to replace invereter baord. It is not possible to repair the backlight inverter. You have to replace the board with a new one.Have added the picture of inverter board and budge capacitor for your reference. If you need any more assistance feel free to contact me by Fixya.

No sound on ALL MODES?

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, make sure the MUTE or SAP function is not activated, then check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks (Red and White) to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit.

TURN TV ON JUST PLAIN

Do you see the backlight ever coming to the screen? You will want to open the cover, disconnect the backlight inverter and try again to see if it will stay on even without an image. If it does it's the inverter.if it still shuts it's most likely (not guaranteed) either the power board itself or the main board.A good tech should be able to test the power board independantly fairly quickly.

Tv cuts off and green

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm51C_RDIZE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNHHrgX_6cs&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l0AUj8QUkg&NR=1&feature=fvwp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7b_nTaZYcU&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.

NOTE: This is becoming a "known issue" for your brand/make of TV.
