Usally if its the motherboard it will have a burnt mark on it.. I just replaced the run capacitor and my compressor started working again. I would try this first for 13.00 before buying a board or other items unless like I said you look at your board and see a black mark

You must be referring to the compressor. It's possible it could be your main control board on the back of the unit. Typically its these main boards that go out, as they control everything on your GE Refrig, pretty much. If its not the board, it could be your Relay on the compressor, or the compressor its self, however, in my experience, GE's compressors are pretty decent.

Ge profile bottom freezer model # PGSS5NFXA SS. Got up this morning and freezer thawing both fridge and freezer same

Not sure if the compressor is running. If not, you'll need a repair man. Since fans are running, most likely the thermistor. Also, if you haven't unplug from the wall, wait 10 seconds then plug back in; this may reset the control board. The link below may help. GE Refrigerator Not Cold Enough

If your model is the PSS26MSRSS the defrost timer is built into the motherboard and will be completely electronic. Click here for the=> Service Manual And then click here for=> GE Profile/Artica Technical Information Now it is possible that the model listed here requesting a solution may have been listed incorrectly by auto generated model numbers and not by your fault, it just happens here at times. So if this is what happened then try again to provide a different model number. Here is how GE locates their model numbers, Click Here=>

Where are you getting frost at? Is it on the back wall in the freezer? if so - your problem may be a defrost issue and in that case you would need to hire a professional appliance repair technician to service your refrigerator.

GE profile refrigerator model # PDS22SCRRS not cooling. I looked in the back and condensor fan is not working. Should I assume that it needs a new motor or is it possibly the motherboard which I have read...

Check to see if you have 110 volts at the motor with the compressor running. If you do then your motor is bad - replace it. Also make sure something has not gotten in the fan to keep it from working. The fan must run to keep the compressor cool and from over heating. Be sure to put the back of the refrigerator back on when you are through.

The fan is controlled thru the main control board located on the back of your refrigerator. Pull unit away from the wall and you will see a metal plate. The board is located there and you will need to replace the board. This is a common problem with the GE's. The board is pricey but better than a new refrigerator. If an appliance company told you the fan was bad you should try and get them to refund the fan. wr 55x10942 is the number you need.

GE Refrigerator/Freezer not cooling

Loss of coldness is common with compressor related problems....relay and overload(simple fix), loss/leak of refridgerant(need a cert. tech). need to check the compressor and see if its running....do this by pulling the unit out and removing the back panel, place your hand on the compressor and see if it feels like its running....if not probably just a relay, if it is running, could be a more serious problem dealing with sealed system.
