How many cooling fans got bike - Motorcycles

If you let the bike sit and idle for about ten minutes and the cooling fan doesn't come on, it usually means your radiator fluid is low. The sensor to turn on the fan sits at the top of the radiator. So if it doesn't come on after the bike gets up to heat (this can take a LONG time in cold weather), you need to flush your radiator. Intruder Alert Suzuki Intruder and Boulevard Owners Club

Assuming that the coolant level is ok, may be a faulty thermostat rather than the fan, as there will be airflow for cooling on the open road.

check to see if ur fans on radiator are coming on when bike gets hot,check fan fuse might be blown..coolant ful?might need to flush cooling system,replace thermostat,radiator clogged,completly flush system,replace hoses too all,replace temp sending unit too??

your bike is air and water cooled. The and only comes on when the water is hot and requires the fan.

A 250 probably doesnt need a cooling fan unless you're hauling heavy loads slowly in hot weather.

There are some exercise bikes with a build-in fan you should buy this model if your exercise space is a little room that with no air flow and is hard to cool the room during a workout.

what kind of bike are we working on?? the avg temp for the elec fan to turn onis around the 220 mark. the best thing to do here is bench test the bike start it up and let it idle, put a fan that moves air in front of the bike, this will help to keep things cool while the bike heats up i know it kinda back-@ssward but do it. a inferred temp gun will help you get the temp, you can pick one up at your local auto parts store. check the temp near the senser for the fan and the radiator itself. keeping a GOOD oil, clean oil in your bike that will help with the cooling as well. If your running a bike with a fuel filter ( If your not GET ONE ) make sure its clean. Bikes with fuel pump, you a two types in tank and external, your in tanks pumps should have a filter on them in the tank, over time they get clogged like a inline filter and can cause poor running as well.
If everything is working as it should you'll need to look into your coils. Heat causes resistance, resistance causes heat and heat causes wires to break down and contact points to to weaken. Coils take alot of abuse when it comes to electricity, it doesn't always happen but it does. coils go out and tire wear odd sometimes.

This can be caused by a bad coolant temperature sensor, the cooling fan relay could be blown, or maybe your cooling fans are faulty.

hi, had many a good time on a cx 500, realy easy to ride with or without a pilion, for the rite money they are a good bike,

as the bike is now 32 years old be careful you can still get parts for it, in the early days the bike did have some issues these included

crankshaft bearing failure,, engine removal required
camshaft failure engine removal required
timeing chain and tensioner guide failure, engine removal rear cover removal
waterpump seal failure, can be repaired in frame
mechanical cooling fan failure, repaired in frame
alternator failure, engine removal,

the engine itself is overhead valve as this incorperates a cam chain and the camshaft is below the cylinder head in the middle of the engine, it uses pushrods to open and close the valves, these may become rattely after high milage but there is no cause for concern,
a noise from the front of the engine may well be the cooling fan, when faulty they make a hovering sound,, the center is alloy inside of a plastic fan, this becomes loose.so look out also for radiator damage,
on the odd ocasion it was reported to have gearbox problems, ride the bike check for smooth gearchanges, with no noise throughout any gear, ride the bike slow as well as higher speeds and get a good feel for the ride, as the cooling fan is mechanical you can alow the bike to idle without the posibility of overheating, so do this and check all is well before you comit to buying, it is normal to feel a slight tilt in the bike as you blip the throttle from tickover, as the fan is mechaical combined with thev twin engine, hope this helps you paul

You can test the fan by simply unplugging the single wire that attaches to the fan thermal switch and touching it to ground. With the ignition switch on, the fan should spin when you do this. If it does spin, then you've most likely got a bad thermal switch.

Your bike has two thermally activated switches: one for the temp gauge - and one to operate the fan. The temp gauge switch has two wires going to it, while the fan switch just ahs one wire.

Also, check that the coolant temp light bulb is not burnt out. FYI: Feeling what seems to be a great amount of heat coming off your bike's liquid cooled engine is normal, especially on warm days. If the cooling system has the proper amount of coolant in it - and is not boiling over, then the engine is probably not overheating.
