I have the same problem with my harrier 3000cc car. We have changed the idling sensor, airflow sensor. air filter, we have had the throttle checked, spark plugs, wiring and nothing works. The smell you are getting could be from your gear box, have it checked out early and if the gear shift is noticeable then you will need a gearbox specialist to open it and change the clutch plates. Good luck.
You have oxygen sensor problems. They wear out pretty regularly and do the "cold weather dance" you described. I'm surprised shop that replace Cat converter didn't address then. They usually go "hand in hand". Shop must have been trying to save you some $$$
The condenser for the ac is not getting enough air, look for the reason, look in front of the car at the radiator, see if there is something restricting air flow threw the radiator and condenser.
hiya,i dnt know about the shuddering/turbulance,but a can of Aircon Cleaner and Purifier will definately helps the aircon system and the mouldy residue. Hope it solves part of your problem.
I think the auto-lite plugs are probably your problem. yes it sounds like mis-firing. That's one of the few times the check engine light flashes. I'd suggest changing the plugs to a NGK plug, that's the ONLY plug we use in our Audi's and VW's (work at a VW/Audi shop). Try that, and it should take care of the rough running, if not, it will probably need coils too.
likely pinion bearing or carrier bearings. They howl, characteristically, and the howl changes frequency with speed. Do check the u-joints first, though.
