Hi There, I have an Audi tt Quattro. 2003 model 1.8 with 38,732km on the clock. Recently I have noticed that if I start the engine with the air-con already on I get a shuddering/turbulance and I have also noticed a dampish smell when the ari-con is on.

Sounds like you have some blown fuses mate. Check your fuse panel and replace any that are blown

Have you jacked up the rear wheels and turned them by hand?

if vechicle getting spark and fuel.timing could be off due to a worn timing belt.i would do a compression test see what condition the engine is in.

There won't be - the secondary air injection system is strictly for cold-start emissions. You won't see any effects in driving, but if you have any sort of emissions check in your state's inspection, you will fail.

in the fuse box under the hood look in the book for it that tells you all about the car.

On a 2001 Audi TT Quattro the fuel filter is located forward of the fuel tank, in the right rear wheel well area. The fuel line clamps are a bit tricky. The change will improve performance. The owners manual does not even list changing the filter. But do it! use a Fram, and it fit perfectly. Good luck.

good news is , it's under a recall for gauge cluster. bad news, gotta go back to dealer for that. least it shouldn't cost anything.

I would suggest you check oil levels etc. Generally these cars suffer from the air mass meter / air sensor problems aswell as coil problems too. Did you ever get a solution to the problem?

I am by no means a car expert. My experience is based only on past experience not just with my 2003 audi tt but other cars as well.

What you describe may be your transmission slipping. You should have it checked out asap before you need to have the flywheel cut--I had that happen on another car and it was very expensive to have repaired.

My tt also has some brake problems which cause it to stutter when I get close to a full stop.

The best of all though is the recall of our cars for replacment of the timing belt--according to my dealer a $1700 job.

On some Audi's there is an ECON button which you must press for up to 5 seconds to turn the AC off.
