So i recently changed my breaks and attempted to bleed the break fluid..I'm just wondering how to go about bleeding the breaks without a vacuum for the fluid...
how do i bleed the breaks without a machine to suck the fluid up from the reservoir?how do i bleed the breaks without a machine to suck the fluid up from the reservoir?
Get a short piece of hose and attach it to the bleed valve. Put the free end in a jar that has some fluid in it and put the free end of the hose into the fluid. Put the container lower than the item you are bleeding. Open the valve and work the pedal gently a few times, then wait...gravity will finish for you. Close valve and go to the next wheel.Get the bleeders free and clear them of debris before putting the hose on (hose should fit well, can't be loose or it won't work.) Monitor the master cylinder so it does not run low and leave the cap off while doing this. I use clear plastic hose so I can see the air as it comes out but you can use black hose and just watch the end for bubbles.

If you haven't replaced the calipers or hoses there should be no need to bleed the system unless the brakes are spongy if that's the case overfill the master cylinder then loosen the bleeder screws and let gravity bleed it when the drips become constant tighten bleeders and try it, if no fluid comes out take the bleeder screw out and clean it out don't let the master cylinder get low if nothing comes out try pushing a wire in the hole, if it won't let any fluid out you will have to replace the caliper. You can also try to bleed the line at the caliper and see if that's enough. I hope this helps. Take care.
Most likely cause is air in the break lines. This can happen if the break lines are not bled during the break job. If you did bleed the lines during the job you may be low on break fluid. If the fluid level is OK then you should bleed the breaks again, making sure the fluid level stays high.
On these old manual brake systems without automatic adjusters you have to set the shoe clearance by turning the adjuster on each shoe out so the shoe is very close to the drum. If there is too much clearance between the shoe and drum the shoe will move as far as it can and never touch the drum, this will make a low or no pedal pressure.
you may need to bleed your breaks so check your fluid and have a friend help you with this.. open or take off break fluid cap and top off with fluid leave cap off and start on the back passanger side break have someone pump the break a few times and then hold down on the break pedal while you open the bleeder valve when the break pedal reaches the floor hold there and retighten the bleeder valve and repeat untill no air only fluid comes out, then move to the driverside rear wheel and repeat, next is the front passanger side wheel then finaly front driverside wheel. check fluid in master cylender after every 2 trys on each wheel to make sure pleanty of fluid is in resourvior so your not putting air in the lines.. you should see a video on this to make sure you understad it fully before attempting yourself, go to youtube videos and watch a video on how to bleed breaks almost all break systems are the same. i hope this helps.
Have you checked your Master Cylinder to ensure that it's full of fluid? If it is empty the best way to bleed the brakes in that case would be to add fluid and then break the caliper bleeders loose and let gravity do its thing. Gravity bleeding is the best way to make sure you don't trap air in the brake system. Make sure you keep the master cylinder full of fluid while gravity bleeding. Run approx 2 reservoirs full to make sure that you have no more air in the line! And you should be done. Also, the vehicle does not need to be running to gravity bleed. Good luck!
You either have air in the line or your vacuum booster needs replaced. Try to bleed them first. Then pull the vacuum line of the booster and see if it makes a change. Good luck.
You are either low on brake fluid or you have a vacum problem. It is a long shot but possible the Master Cylinder is having an issue or an air bubble in the system. Start the vehicle and make sure it is blocked. With the engine running perform system bleeds on all four calipers. Pump 3 times then release bleed valve. You are going to need a couple bottles of brake fluid to bleed all these calipers and get the air out of the lines. You should make sure the primary vacum is connected to the master cylinder and that there are no leaks on any lines before you start the bleeding process.
you need to hold in the metering valve.when you bleed the front brakes.long as the valve closed off you wont be able to bleed front brakes.better to get extra help.hard to bleed by your self .
