your description indicates detonation and that can be from air/fuel mix too lean, incorrect ignition timing or mechanical fault

I had a power problem, when cold idled just fine,when warm it would miss at idle, spudder on acceleration and sound just fine at higher rpm. found number three spark plug wire had burned through lower boot. Spark was firing to head at low idle. same wire burn twice with about 40000 mile between.

Assuming the wiring to the brake lights is serviceable, you will find that the brake light switch, which is activated by the brake pedal for the brake lights, will have failed and will need to be replaced.
Just ensure you first replace the fuse and both brake light bulbs as an initial step and then re-check to ensure you still have no lights.
