Where is fuel pump located and how hard to get it out?

It's in the gas tank. If you have the right tools it's not hard to replace. But you really need a lift or several floor jacks to lower the tank.

This the fuel pump, It is difficult for shade tree mech to drain gas tank ( where are you going to fut gas) remove gas tank straps carefully lower tank until you can reach in and unplug wring connector (sometimes they will be stubborn and hard to remove, now you can lower tank and install fuel pump. Assemble in reverse order. Now if you want to know why the new pump isn't running you will need to replace ECM $$$$

The fuel pump is electric and it is located inside the fuel tank. The fuel tank must be removed to access the fuel pump, the new fuel pump is called the fuel pump module and it comes with the gas level sending unit and the new pump. To replace it on the ground is about a 4 hour job and you will need an assistant. A good quality 3 ton hydraulic floor jack (about $100.00) is needed, safety "Jack" stands to support the car and a good set of common hand tools as well as a GM fuel line retaining clip release tool (avail at most auto parts stores) You will also need fuel safe containers to drain some of the fuel out or the tank will be very heavy and hard to handle.

it could be. how's your gas pump? is it coming on? have you replaced ur fuel filter?

have the airflow meter checked out.it is on the air inlet to the throttle body.the coolant temperature sensor is another.

Fuel Pump relay switch is in the main box usually located on the drivers side Fender in a black box. According to the owner's manual in the power distribution box in the engine
compartment (Ford recommends disconnecting your battery)
Relay # 5 is the fuel pump relay , and also in the PD BOX is a 20 amp mini-fuse
for the fuel pump relay + RAP module in location # 9


( P.S. - don't forget your fuel pump inertia switch , in the right front passenger area ,
by the right front kick panel )Sometimes this gets kicked by passenger or if the car is bummed hard it could set this item to shut down fuel system. Best of Luck

fuel pump is located in the fuel tank .yes buy after also change fuel filter

the fuel pump relay is located on the left shock tower in the engine compartment in a black box 6x4x1 inches. there are other relays inside the same box which is actually called the ccrm or constant contorl relay module, there should be a double connector with 20 to 26 wires in it, hard to miss.

I hate to correct you Guru but on a 89 xj6 the fuel pump is located between the fuel tank and filter under the car. right above rearend. Its a littler hard to see but a easy fix
