where did it break off at in the cabin or under the hood? you might be able to use a pliers or vise grip to snag the cable and use it to pull the hood release
Most likely a broken cable. The actual latch assembly can be accessed from underneath the front of the car.just follow the cable to the end (It will be close to the center of the underneath of the hood) , and take a pair of pliers and pull the wire part of the cable, that should manually release the hood.
pull the broken cable down from under the dash, cut back the cable sheath to expose the wire cable inside, then use a good pair of vise grips to pull the stub of the broken steel cable to open the hood.
if it is broken at the handle you should be able to grasp the cable with pliers to pull it otherwise you will have to go out front of truck and the best way i found requires long arms, but you would have to use a flashlight and slide under front bumper and look upward to find cable/latch assembly. You may be able to do it through the grill but if cant see it through the grill under neath.if you in front of truck pull latch to right and it will release.
if its broken at the handle inside the car use a pair of pliers to pull the silver cable if it is broken outside the car there is a black plastic shield on the underside of the car, remove it and the lack will be visible use a screw driver to release latch
Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.
Depends where cable is broken might be able to put vice grip on it and pull it from inside the car with the door open and you looking at the under dash lever. if can't then alternative is to lay on ground with a trouble light and look straight up under front where you think the hood latch is at if you can see the release then try to reach up and pry it enough to get hood to pop up on the safety then reach in and open it normally giving you time to see what is broken and to replace it. normally a book is available at the public library telling you how to specifically remove and replace broken and worn parts step by step, just find the proper book relevant to your model & make take it and see if it helps or not if it does your all set
