SOURCE: I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee, the hood release cable is broken..help

HALLO
TRY WITH SOME HARD WIRE (WELDING WIRE) ABOUT 3MM THICK.
MAKE HOOK ON ONE END (5MM), AND IN THE MIDDLE, JUST UNDER THE HOOD,BETWIN HOOD AND FRONT GRILL, IN THE GAP YOU WILL SEE HOOD LOCK. IN THIS LOCK YOU WILL SEE SMAL HOLE. GO INSIDE WITH THE WIRE AND TURN IT (TRY LEFT OR RIGHT (DONT REMEMBER)), BUT HOOD WILL OPEN. HEPENED TO ME TOO TWO YEARS AGO.

The inside latch that opens the hood is brook. i cant open thehood

The easiest solution would be to find the end of the cable at the release handle. If it's the handle that broke, the cable end may still be there. If so, grab it with a pair of pliers, and pull. Make sure your are pulling on the inside cable, not the black outer casing.

The other option is to crawl under the front bumper and see if you can get your hand on the release arm. The cable is attached to it. Have a helper push down slightly on the hood, over the latch. That will help reduce the spring tension on the part you need to pull on.

93 cutlass supreme broken how to open hood ( without needlenose pliers)

I had this problem when the locking mechanism rusted up. I had to go in through the bottom on the front side of the radiator to force the rotating lock open enough to get the hood to pop and then I could open it up completely. No real good way to do it that I can see beyond that...it was a pain, but I got.

I need to open the hood of my 96 Oldmobile Cutlass Supreme, but my hood release latch is broken. How can I open the hood with out it?

There's a few ways. Either break your bumper grill, which I don't like to do to access the hood cable at the latch to pull, or cut the cable where it connects the the lever inside the car. Strip the plastic coating enough to where you can get a pliers or vise grip on the center metal cable to tug. If the latch under the hood itself is seized, try spraying some WD-40 at it and letting it sit for a few minutes. Sometimes it takes pulling up on the hood and pulling on the cable at the same time. Once open, spray more on the latch.

Can't get hood open

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

There is a latch with a hood release cable connected to it. It can be reached from underneath, between the grill and radiator, or you can reach it through the grill.

Hood release cable is broken

Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.
