If the dashboard mileage light on your 2001 Buick Regal LS is very dim and the Service Vehicle Soon (SVS) light and antilock light stay on, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some things you can check:
Dim dashboard light: If the dashboard mileage light is very dim, it could be due to a burnt-out bulb or a problem with the dimmer switch. Try turning up the brightness using the dimmer switch, and if that doesn't work, check the bulb and replace it if necessary.
SVS light and antilock light: The SVS light and antilock light staying on could indicate a problem with the car's computer system or with the antilock brake system. It could be caused by a faulty sensor, a wiring issue, or a problem with the computer itself. It's recommended to have the car's computer system scanned for error codes to determine the root cause of the issue.
Battery or charging system: A weak battery or faulty alternator can cause electrical issues in the car, which could be related to the dim dashboard light and the warning lights staying on. Have the battery and charging system checked to rule out this possibility.
this sounds like the alternator is only making enough current for daytime running and so the battery is barely charged. so when you use lights and accessories its draining it further. this could indicate a lose fan belt,(try the simple things first) or perhaps the regulator in the alternator, or maybe a dead cell in the battery
number one you need to have someone run a check for diagnostic codes using a scan tool. two sounds like you could have a weak alternator when the cooling fans cycle on it would cause your lights to go dim. so also when getting codes checked have a starting charging system check done on your car. im not sure what you mean by turn signal not working its to broad what is it not doing? lights blinking fast or not doing anything at all? not coming off when turning?
Here's a quick test. Turn on the overhead light and crank the engine. If the light dims out, the battery needs to be replaced. If the light stays on bright and nothing happens, check and clean the connection at the battery. That's as far as I can help without being there.
I just started experiencing the same problem. Yes, typically after rainy days, I can never get the interior lights to go out after the ignition key has been removed. The car acts as if there is a door open. Now, my latest problem is with the heater fan. Of course, putting the control in the "off" position will turn it off but you can turn it on and off with no ignition key installed. I'm also having problems with my heater core too so it's been a pain in the but!!
I believe this problem has also caused my battery to die which is why I'm on this site in the first place!! I can't get into the car with the keys and the dead battery won't allow me to unlock the car!! When it rains it pours!!!
sounds like your alternator. if you have a multimeter then turn on your car and turn your headlights on/ac and heater fan on high/wipers on and blinkers on. once they are all on hook the meter to the battery and if it reads less then 14 volts then the alt is bad. or you can just take it to a shop and have it tested.
