Factory reset the printer.

If the drum is separate from the toner cartridge, then you still need toner.

unfortunately the drum within the cartridge has reached end of life so changing to a new drum cartridge would resolve this issue.

So many things can go wrong, from a defective sensor, so the logic does not know where the head is, to a defect on the logic board or bad cabeling. It is ompossible to say what is wrong, without seeing the printer and being able to measure some things. Sorry, but I don't think you can solve this with any software. It needs a tech, with some knowledge of the old school printers.

There is a little special (white) gear on the outer left side of the drumkit - a little bit below where the toner sits. That gear joins with toner mixing assy - and you can rotate it in counterclockwise all the way back. This should reset the drum counter - worked for me - I hope it also does the trick for you ;-)
