Cannot hear music
The bad news is that your headphone jack is most likely shot. The soldered connections inside are most likely broken. This is not repairable generally, at least not for a cost that would be reasonable. Music will play through your computer because it can be read off your player through the USB connection.
Use it as a data storage drive and buy a new one, or a used one. I've seen used T30s on Amazon for around $30 to $40.
File cannot be created
Need a little more info in order to help you...... when does this error occur? Does the player connect to WMP? Does your computer recognize the player and if so as what? a hard drive? a USB device? An MTP device?
As much info as you can provide will greatly aid me in finding a solution for you.
Iriver T20 not recognized
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
All the info/manuals/drivers/upgrades for the iRiver T20 can be found here:

Transfer cd music from pc to mp3 player
Inside Windows Media Player, you have to move the mouse over the Rip tab, click the black arrow that appears, go into Rip Options, Format, and change format to Mp3. Now you can go to Rip tab and rip a CD into Mp3 format - then you will be able to transfer it to your iRiver using the Sync tab.
Good luck!

The Windows Media Player Sync function is worthless. It takes forever
and offers no real benefit except to people who cannot organize their
MP3s themself. And if it doesn't fully sync before you disconnect your
iRiver, the software crashes and you have to reset the player (this
erases all your files).
