When I connect the iriver T20 fm MP3 player, it says it is connected (through the USB-port). But Windows XP says that it cannot start the divice (code 10). It recognizes the device just as an MTP-device, but not as an iriver T20 (like the manual says). What happens then is that de player is fixed in the USB-connected mode and doesn't work at all. Only when I wait untill the battery is empty, and load it again, it will work again. I tried the give tip to hold on de volume + button, reconnect the player on the computer and hold de volume + button for 5 - 50 seconds. But nothing happens. So now I'm in trouble, because I cann't change the music anymore. The help-desk of Iriver didn't react on this problem, so who can help me?

Hi man .. I've tried your trick but nothing happened ....just same as always "unknown device" .... i went to control panel\system\hardware\usb port\unknown device ....and reinstall driver but ..nothing happened.
What about making a short on Chip pins ?? inside the unit ?
Sometimes work on other units.... but i removed the screws under golden frame on iriver ....but still stocked there ...is almost impossible to open .

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

How to fix iriver E10 it says on the screen is emergency usb

  1. If your PC does recognize the iRiver as a USB device/drive, there is an issue with the Hard Drive.
  2. If your computer doesn't recognize the iRiver as a USB device/drive and can read the files, there is an issue with the Circuitry in your e10.
  3. Turn the lock off and connect it to the usb port and press the reset button (small hole in lower left of unit, use a small object like a paperclip. The screen should change eventually to the "USB connected" screen. Disconnect the USB at the PC to get the "Ok to disconnect" message. Pull out the usb cable and hold down the "off" button. Eventually the unit will turn off. Turn it on and then off to verify it is working.
If nothing works, your iRiver needs to be returned to the manufacturer.

USB port gives new message "unknown device"

hello allan213

my name is ausi.

is it on all usb ports only one of them if it is in only one of them then the message you getting generaly means one of thw follwng.

1- if it is in only one of the ports then try it with a different device as well to see if it is the actual port or not.

2- the device you have plugged in needs to have drivers installed. normally should have been supplied with it.

3- the device you plugging in is faulty and the system can not access it.

4- the system usb ports are overloaded. (too many usb devices connected simultaneously)

good luck

Dear Friend..

Go to Control Panel=>System => Harware=> Device Manager. Under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" delete all USB root hubs & controllers/ ports & then Action=> San for hardware changes That shall freshly install the USB ports on your system & shall work.

Buffalo USB 25gb external hard drive

There is probably just a bad connection between the usb and hard drive. Unplugging it and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work try another usb port. That usually fixes the problem.

IRiver MP3 Player Not Inisializing

If you haven't already I would try an emergency connect. -First perform a standard reset as you did before (press rear button for 20GB or disconnect & reconnect the battery for the 5/6GB versions). -Leave the unit turned off, but connect it to your computer's USB port. -Hold down the "o" button and then press the power button for a second to power on the device. -Do not release the "o" button until you see a message such as "emergency connect" or "mass storage" on the player screen. I beleive the message has changed with firmware versions, but it should be something similar. -If this works it should be detected by your computer as an external drive. You should have access to the files. -I would remove all music files from the device and then use the iriver plus software to restore system files. -If you manage to get to this point I would install the newest firmware available for your model of H10, found at the iriver site. The newest firmware adds a lot of functionality, speeds up player response significantly, and fixes many bugs as well.
