Hello! resently, my mp3 (iRiver T30) headphone jack stopped working. the unit works great but i cannot hear a thing. the strange thing is, i connect the mp3 player to the computer via the headphone jack and i can hear the music on the mp3 player through my computer. however, when i plug in ordinary headphones, all i hear is crackling sounds. i've tried several different headphones. and even checked the volumn on the unit. i know it's not a headphone problem. it's just strange. can you please give me some suggestions and possible solution to this.
The bad news is that your headphone jack is most likely shot. The soldered connections inside are most likely broken. This is not repairable generally, at least not for a cost that would be reasonable. Music will play through your computer because it can be read off your player through the USB connection. Use it as a data storage drive and buy a new one, or a used one. I've seen used T30s on Amazon for around $30 to $40.
