Applications After using some applications I turn them off only to find that they are still running in the background. Is there any setting or software that would allow me to exit an application and NOT have it using up battery power in the background?

I use e800 too and I switch them off manually. You are right. All used applications running in background. All of them are listed in “running” tab. Like I said you can switch them off manually singly or all of them with “select all” option.

Why does my new cell phone get too hot to hold?

It probably has a lot of applications running in the background, and if you are using the GPS, wireless connections, and some other applications that are running simultaneously the battery will get warm as it provides the current to operate the phone.

To reduce some of this, you may want to try adding a battery monitoring app, and an app to manage the other applications use. These are available from the Play Store.

If there are apps running that you do not use or need all the time, you may want to force them off [settings/apps] to reduce the draw on your phone.

My battery dies half way through the day without even using it, is there something running on the phone draining the battery?

Hi

BBM ( blackberry messenger) could be a drain, especially with that many contacts pinging you all day long. Is your brightness on high? That is another big power drag. What apps are you running?
What themes have you installed? You can try reinstalling the OS. Check what applications are running on your device in the background, press the Menu key then choose Switch Applications. You will see the icons of each application there.
There are commonly four or five applications that will always be running (Messages, Call Logs/Phone, BlackBerry Messenger, Home screen, and the Browser; there are other third party applications such as Bee Jive, and BlackBerry Alerts which will also run in the background which you cannot close if you want them to operate). Make certain that the browser is NOT on an active webpage (open the browser and choose Menu > Close). Close any other applications that do not need to be running (the camera or a game you were playing or Google Maps). Also make certain BlackBerry Maps is not running in the background.
Do a simple reboot: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now, watch your battery use the next few days again and see how it goes. Make sure you close or exit ALL applications properly: If you just hit the red "end call" key to go back to the home screen the application actually stays open and running in the background. If you do this repeatedly you will have lots of apps open and consequently your memory will get used up. Lack of memory is the biggest reason your BlackBerry slows to a crawl or locks up. If you get into the habit of actually using the menu key to close the applications this will at least slow down this battery drain and memory-clogging process.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

How to increase my laptop speed?

Well try to remove unused applications and delete unnecessary files in your computer. Set desktop background to solid color. Close memory-eating processes running in background. Perform a disk defragmentation. Good luck!

Make sure that all programs you have been using are closed when you press the cross (X). The factory settings are se to minimize the application instead of closing the program. This will keep all the applications running on the background instead of actually being closed. There are options under the menu setting options that give you the option of closing the applications by taping X or by pressing and holding X. I set tapping on mine.
The more programs running on the background the more memory usage.
