"ROOT=/DEV/HDA2" NOT found kernel Panic VFS cannot mount I dont understand a bit of this error.. i ahve tried all the zImage files on the website.. but still I am getting the same error. I used the Henchman.tar--------( All the versions avaliable on website" Haret.exe as kernel Bootloader file which read as below # boot a kernel with HaRET # # have the kernel zImage and the Haret executable in the same dir as this file # this file if named 'startup.txt' will automatically launch the kernel when you start Haret # # 'set MTYPE 659' is for the NEC MobilePro900c # # in CMDLINE change 'root=' to point to the location of your root filesystem # eg 'root=/dev/hda1' is the first partition on your CF card # and 'root=/dev/hda2' is the second partition # set KERNEL zImage-2.6.23mp900c set MTYPE 659 set CMDLINE "console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200n8 root=/dev/hda2" bootlinux i have tried mentioning "hda1" , "sda1","sdb1","sdb2" I believe its not the problem with the Henchman file or is it??? I cannot get my nec mobile pro 900 to sync with my laptop i downloaded activesync from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/eulas/eula_activesync45_1033.mspx?ProductID=76 i downloaded...

Which one did you do first: Did you install ActiveSync 4.5 first, or did you try installing the driver first?

The best way to do this is as follows:

  1. Download and install ActiveSync (4.5 is what i use both at home and work and it works great with the NEC 900 and 900C's.
  2. Restart your Windows XP Machine (I assume you don't have Vista)
  3. Next, follow the instructions for the installing the NEC 900 usb drivers (these drivers should be installed AFTER installing ActiveSync... (it seems to work that way without problems for me).
  4. Next, restart your xp machine again.
  5. Now, connect your NEC MobilePro 900 to your Windows XP machine, and it should perform smoothly.
If this does not work for you, you can contact the folks at usedhandhelds.com, they sell and repair, as well as provide support for these machines.

Hope this helps

Thourough reassembly info

This is the site I use before using the pay for sites. http://www.hpcnec.com This is the link for your device. http://www.hpcnec.com/cgi-bin/simpleforum.cgi?fid=12&topic_id=1143848182 As per usual they always show you the removal or dismantle procedure and then advise you that installation is a reversal of the removal procedure. Yes, this includes the pay for Doc's as well, so all they really show you in detail is how to dismantle your device properly. Effective reassembly will be based on how much notice you took during dismantle, if you have a synaptic memory, it'll all go sweet. I use a digital camera too take a snapshot of everything assembled and again after you remove each peice of the device.

Ctrl+ALT+Del does not launch Task Manager on my MobilePro 900, why?

The Ctrl-alt-del short cut to the Task Manager is not on the MobilePro 900. To bring up Task Manager on the MobilePro 900, hold the "Alt" key and then tap the task bar with the stylus simultaneously. A menu with "Task Manager" and "Properties" will be displayed, select Task Manager.

Jack for the external microphone

There is an error in the MobilePro 900 manual (Pages 2-2 and 2-3). The jack on the front of the MobilePro 900 is a stereo headphone jack only. The MobilePro 900 has a built in microphone. There is no jack for attaching an external microphone.
