Most Samsung microwaves use a bulb and bracket assembly that is meant to be replaced as a unit, not disassembled (see image). If the bulb base was secured using epoxy or some other means, it may not be possible to remove without damaging the bracket.

That said, you can try traditional methods for removing broken light bulb bases. Remember to always unplug the fixture/appliance, or shut off and mark the breaker serving it, before working.

A cut potato or carrot can sometimes be pushed onto the broken glass left in the base, to provide a handle for unscrewing the base. On smaller bulbs, I have successfully used the eraser on the end of a pencil.

If the bulb was really stubborn, I would probably try filling the base with a hot glue gun, then pushing a screwdriver into the soft glue. Once the glue hardens, turning the screwdriver should unscrew the bulb base (if it is at all possible).

As you may have discovered, pliers and the like tend to just break off small pieces of the broken glass bulb.

Cooktop light socket needs replacing, bulb broke in it. Socket needs replacing.

make sure the light is off, better yet turn off the breaker

take a potato a little larger than the socket, cut it to size, whatever.. jam it into the broken bulb (carefully), this will allow you to grip the broken bulb safely. turn counter clockwise and whats left of the bulb should unscrew out.. works VERY well

How to replace light under kenmore microwave

This is pretty common and can be a pain. It's tacked in place with contact cement or hot glue, and sometimes there may have been enough moisture to corrode and seize up.

Number one, be sure to unplug the oven!

You could heat it up (hair dryer, maybe?) then use needle nose pliers. Be careful if heating so you don't burn anything.

You may be able to put the tips of needle nose pliers inside the broken bulb's socket, gently but firmly force the pliers jaws apart and then rotate the pliers to loosen it.

Another cool trick is to put a big glob of hot glue on the end of a stick or dowel, then shove it into the broken base and let it cool about 5 minutes, then turn the stick.

I like to put a little WD-40 or rust buster on the threads of the new bulb, too. Grease, Vaseline, cooking oil, or anything like that will work. Just a thin coat.

I have replaced the bulbs underneath the microwave, but the lights are still not working.

HELLO.

This is the solution to the problem as detailed below.

instruments needed
* Appliance bulb
* Screwdriver.

Unplug the microwave. Remove the lamp cover by unscrewing the mounting screws. Turn the bulb to tightly screw it in. Then plug the microwave back in to test the light. If the bulb still will not illuminate, it is likely broken or defective. Replace it with another 20 to 40 watt appliance bulb.

I want to change the light in my microwave. Panasonic nn-p704sw. I took apart the covr and foung the light attached to a plastic scockrt. I tried to unscrew but the bulb was tight. should i apply more...

Typically the bulb will unscrew from the socket. If you can remove the bulb and socket with the wire from the microwave (wire hanging from the microwave) you might be able to get more pressure on the bulb to turn it. Keep in mind that the bulb may have been in the oven for several years and there may be a build of grease on the treads of the bulb so it could be really stuck. Put a cloth towel around the bulb and wear gloves so you don't cut your hand if the bulb were to shatter.

First be sure the oven is unplugged whenever you are removing or installing light bulbs.

This is pretty common and can be a pain. It's tacked in place with hot glue, and sometimes there may have been enough moisture to corrode and seize up.

Once you get new bulbs in, if they don't work, that's circuit board damage which we repair for $39.95 for customers nationwide and you can feel free to contact me directly.

Replacing lightbulb in Sharp R953M combi microwave oven

most microwave ovens built in the last 20 years do not have an
access panel to the light bulb. you must remove the screws on the back of the microwave that hold the outer sleeve in place.
Then pull upward and backward on the sleeve to disengage it
from the front lip of the chassis. the light bulb should be close to the front of the microwave behind the control panel. Some lights
are not unscrewable from the socket, but the socket and bulb
come as an assembly.

Surface lights

I also have had a problem with the glass part of the surface light bulb separating from the metal base when trying to change the bulbs under my G.E. Spacemaker Microwave.. I see someone used a carrot or potato but I had not seen this suggestion before I whittled one end of a wine cork small enough to insert into the metal part of the old bulb stuck in the socket. It also worked great and in no time I was able to get the old base out and replace the bulb. I'll save the cork for next time because it seems to happen to at least one of the bulbs everytime they need to be changed. DON'T FORGET TO UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE FIRST!
