GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven Logo

I need to convert the updraft to a recirculation/filtering on a 1993 model 3vm140k003 GE spacemake microwave

Now the microwave vents the cooktop by taking the air into the attic. I have been told that all microwaves can be hooked up to just recircluate and filter the air from the cooktop. I need to change the microwave to draw and charcoal filter the air so I can eliminate the attic piping. This microwave was in the house when we purchased it . Where can I get the parts and instructions to do the conversion?

Thanks for your assistance.

Jim

My husbands wants to know how to clean the air filters that are under the spacemaker icrowave oven and above the stove ?

If your unit is venting to the outside, you would be using one or two grease filters, which can be cleaned, usually with warm soapy water.

If your unit is set to recirculate, then you should be using a charcoal filter, which cannot be cleaned, and must be replaced.

Details and instructions are to be found in your owner's manual.

If for some reason you don't have yours, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts (including filters) by entering your full model number here.

Is there a filter that goes into the vent of GE Spacemaker 2.0 profile microwave (model# JVM2070SK01)?

You should first refer to your owner's manual. If for some reason you don't have it, you can download it here free.

See page 38 and 39 of the manual for info on the filters.

If your oven is set up to vent outside, it will have cleanable grease filters.

If it is set up to recirculate, it will have a charcoal filter which cannot be cleaned, but must be replaced about every 60 days.

It is part number WB2X10956 and you can order it and other parts and accessories here.

Condensation in door glass of GE XL1800 microwave

Your ventilation seals may be aging, but they have nothing to do with microwave energy leakage, (And microwave energy is not ionizing radiation anyway, so it does not cause cellular mutation or cancer)

You should check your grease filters (if you are venting to the outside) or your charcoal filter (if recirculating).

If you are venting outside, check your outside vent flap for proper operation, and check your outlet and ductwork for a bird's nest or mouse nest, etc.

If you have other questions, feel free to contact me directly, because FixYa doesn't always notify us when there are follow-ups.

The Charcoal Filter (JX81C) used for non-vented GE Spacemaker over the stove microwave (JVM1540SM2SS) does not fit anywhere (after pulling off the grill).

This of course assumes that your oven has the optional Recirculating Charcoal Filter Kit (part # JX81C available here) already installed.

Replacement model for jvm152h

Please clarify which model Spacemaker Micro you have .. and Spacemaker microwave ovens can be configured to vent inside or out simply by repositioning the blower assembly prior to mounting it to the wall bracket so turn it on and determine where the vent air is being distributed ( outside or inside) ..

Outside venting GE Profile Spacemaker XL1800

Your vent flap could be taped or it could be faulty installation not allowing the vent to open. If you take the front vent cover off, you should be able to reach in above the fan unit and gently push the vent flap up, it should move freely with no binding. If it doesn't it is taped or blocked. If it is taped, gently putting upward pressure on the flap might release the tape. If that doesn't work the vent installation is blocking the flap. You might have to remove the unit from the wall (two people to do this) or disassemble the vent duct above the microwave and rework the interface for clearance.

hope this helps,
