I called GE I have the same issue, when the exhaust pulls in cooking grease it is not strong enough to vent it, so the grease drips all over the place and there is nothing you can do. Sucks big time
If your unit is venting to the outside, you would be using one or two grease filters, which can be cleaned, usually with warm soapy water.
If your unit is set to recirculate, then you should be using a charcoal filter, which cannot be cleaned, and must be replaced.
