Stuck button on the remote or the TV is the most likely cause. Take the batteries out of the remote and see if it stops. If not, check the buttons on the TV itself to see if any are stuck down, or show signs of getting wet.

Tv goes black and red light flashes 5 times and stops and flases 5 more times this happens 5 times and than comes back on

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Sony Brava Blinking Code and their meaning

Hello,<br /><br />Below are some blinking code interpretations for your Sony Brava TV;<br /><br />ONE Blink--- not used for the self-diagnosis<br /><br />TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.<br /><br />THREE Blinks---B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672.<br /><br />FOUR Blinks---No Vert. Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505<br /><br />FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.<br /><br />SIX Blinks---No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.<br /><br />SEVEN Blinks---High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.<br /><br />EIGHT Blinks---Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401 and 402.<br /><br />NINE blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negative).<br /><br />TEN blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board.<br /><br />Intermittent problems ?? This is a great feature. You can also bring up these fault codes ON-SCREEN to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the diagnostic screen, Press the following buttons:<br /><br />Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power. This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC. We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink codes.<br /><br />So, now that you know about these self-diagnostics, how do you use them? Say that you have a set with a black screen. You see that the LED is blinking 4 times....This would tell you that you have no vertical and that is why the video is muted. If it was blinking 6 times, you would know that you have a horizontal fault.<br /><br />I hope I have helped someone.<br /><br />Regards.<br />

I am repairing a sony TV KV-32FQ70E. The led blinks 5 times, stops and blinks again. Please tel me what means.

Check the tube emmision, it may be too low to track, causing that error.

Hope that helps

"on" light flashes twice and then "blacks out"

IF power light comes on and a few seconds later goes off, do the self check this model has.

On front of set when this happens, press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

Watch the power light closely, it should blink a two digit error code like; 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and then repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

The tv just turns off after about 5 seconds and won't stay on. i've used the system reset and unplugged it already. no power surge, lightning storm, etc. Ideas?

If reset does not cure it and if after about 70 seconds of unplugging set the green power light stops blinking, do this:

When power light comes on and goes off, on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and RELEASE both buttons.

Power light should blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it four more times.

Let me know what error code you find and if this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

On-screen Menu

Actually, it is not a Projection TV Problem. The problem is with a Mintek DTV-265 26" flat screen digital TV (not projection). I have not yet resolved the problem by unplugging the set, pressing the eject button and replugging in the set nor have I had any other suggetions. The manual clearly indicates Mintek DTV-265 26" (not Mintek DTV-263) but I feel they are very similar; however, the manual does not mention losing/restoring the on screen menu.

Video blinking - sound works fine (KV-36FS10)

Sounds like you have 1999/2000 model Sony with a CRT that is showing its age. This would be a tech fix but, most likely not worth the repair cost. It probably flashes slower when the set is cold and gets more rapid when it warms up.
