Hello,

All Plasma and LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken Good luck in solving the problem and do take care in handling the set because it contains high voltages.

Black line down the middle of the screen. you can see through it so its not solid. brand ;new unit.

I had an LG and the same thing happened to me. It was less than two years old at the time and was used as a second television so it did not get much use. I called customer service when it first started happening and they told me it was interference with my signal. They suggested I move the tv to another location in the house away from microwave ovens and electrical components. I moved the tv and it didn't help. It wasn't all the time and sometimes we could touch the tv at a certain place and this would correct the picture. Within about three weeks, we could not longer get it to stop. The line became more solid as time went on and then started to grow wider. I paid them to repair it and mailed it back to the manufacturer. They were unable to repair it. The problem is that you have a dead pixel in the set and once one goes out, the others are soon to follow. Some sort of power drain from pixel to pixel is my understanding.

If you are under warranty send it to them and have it repaired or replaced or take it back to the store and exchange it for another television.

I have a brand new 1day old 60inch sharp aquos led tv since we hooked it up it has had a faint greenish line going vertically right in the middle of the screen. nothing makes it go away. do you know what...

This greenish line is due to physical screen damage. This is not repairable and not your fault.

If you didn't drop this tv, then the TV was damaged in the box.

Return your TV to the store you bought it as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more chance they'll tell you that you damaged the TV and that they're not responsible for customer's physical damage.

Monitor has vertical lines down right side of screen

Check to see if there is dust in the vents on the monitor. Blow them out with canned air or dust them with a brush the best that you can. The lines could be caused by over heating which usually happens when the vents are plugged by dust.

If this does not solve the problem then the monitor has overheated to the point of burning pixels and needs to be replaced. Over time the lines with grow wider and wider until they cover your screen.

There are two very thin lines (pixel thin) that just appeared on the LCD screen. One is in the middle near the bottom, the other is on the lower left side. They are both fixed and are there no mater which...

If these lines are white, then they generally are a line of burnt out pixels. There is no home fix for these and I have yet to see a repairman fix this problem. I have seen on occasion where the line gets longer. Its best to start looking for a new replacement or try to live with it until you can't stand it any more.

Dark shadow-like vertical streaks thru LCD screen (Sharp)

Hi, I have a Sony Grand Wega LCD Projection TV that has a blotted gray streak across the front of the screen. I only use a damp cloth to clean the window and that doesn't seem to help. It really shows up on light pictures and is unnoticed when the picture is a little darker. What can I do to fix this problem???

Dark streaks on the inside of the screen

If it's an LCD TV, then what your seeing is Liquid Crystals inside. Chances are that someone has bumped the LCD or damaged it, and now the screen is broken. The "Dark Lines" are from misfiring pixels which is a sign that the LCD is damaged and will either stay the same, or get much much worse. I'd lean towards much much worse.

Just keep it until it really gets bad then just replace it. You can have it fixed, but the repair would cost more then just buying a brand new one.

Faint Black Line down the middle of TV

Sounds like it could be pixel problems or board problems, this depend on the location. Most are mostly to the left or right, or going across the set to the upper or more to the lower side. For more info visit ctechnicians.com
