Here is the link to order the driver, however you will need to enter your op system to get the correct one, since you have not entered it here. Please Note:

Turn off and disconnect your scanner.

Before you down load the driver, turn off all running programs including your security/firewall. Go to the the little icons on the lower right and click on them and exit or turn off all that you can. Download the driver to your desktop. It will be an exe file. Then click on it to install and follow directions.If you have not been instructed to connect your scanner during the setup, do so now.
When you are finished restart your computer.

Microtek doesn't have Mac OS Snow Leopard driver for the Scanmaker 4900. Is there a generic one I can use. I don't want to put windows on my computer just to use of my scanner. Thanks if anyone can help.

Windows 7 won't read the microtek scanmaker 4900

In case you haven't noticed, there aren't any drivers for your scanner for Windows7 from Microtek. So you have to wait till Microtek anounce new drivers, or try the WinXP version with your own risk.

In case of a problem, don't hesitate to post.

I have a microtek scanner model #4900 which I gave to a good friend who has the new windows 7 operating system how do I get the driver files to enable it to work on her machine?

On the Microtek web site, I only see an XP driver. Your friend could try installing a generic TWAIN compliant scanner that is included in the Windows 7 OS or try to install the XP driver using the XP SP3 compatability mode (right click on the file, choose Properties and then the Compatability tab). Those drivers are at http://support.microtek.com/downloads/drv_specific.phtml?slct_os=8&prod=14&bymdlnme=1 .

A different method is available on Win7 Pro or Ultimate. Download and install the XP mode to create a virtual computer running Windows XP. Install the scanner to this "second" computer. Your friend will probably need to save the files to external media to transfer them between the two "computers".

I use Vista 64X . And ScanWizard 6.61 ( From Scanmaker 5950, i have 5900) works ok in photoshop.
