The scanner is not supported by Microtek for Win7. Since Windows 7 didn't find a generic driver (TWAIN) in its driver code, one option exists in Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate. Download and install the virtual XP mode (two programs are needed), then use the XP drivers and install the scanner to the "XP computer". You may need to store files on external media to transfer them between the "two" computers.
The XP drivers are here: http://support.microtek.com/product_dtl_2.phtml?prod_id=32

type into google drivers.downloadatoz.com and then type in the name and model of your device and download the driver and install. your device should work good luck.
The scanner in question is not supported under Windows 7 as it is quite aged. I've seen reports of people getting drivers for the same scanner under windows XP and running them in compatibility mode, but these are hackish at best and may or may not work.
As it stands, there is no supported driver for the Microtek 3840 under Windows 7.
open your device manager in control panal attach your scanner with computer and power on look at imaging device
