7. Click - Browse my computer for driver software
8. Click - Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

SOURCE: Microtk Scanmaker 3840 driver for windows 7
The scanner is not supported by Microtek for Win7. Since Windows 7 didn't find a generic driver (TWAIN) in its driver code, one option exists in Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate. Download and install the virtual XP mode (two programs are needed), then use the XP drivers and install the scanner to the "XP computer". You may need to store files on external media to transfer them between the "two" computers.
The XP drivers are here:

I hope this helps.

There's no driver for Windows 7, But you still can install it so it can work by install the driver for Windows XP in "Compability Mode". here's the steps : 1. Place the applications installation file on the Desktop. 2. Right Click the applications installation file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. Select "Windows XP" cheers
3. Click Apply/OK.
4. Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.
