How to unlock frequency step (from 0.2 MHz to 0,05) in Alpine ida-x303? That is how to enter in service menu?

It doesn't work! The Radio is from US and frequency step is 0.2MHz in ALL(!) searching modes.

  • Anonymous May 07, 2011

Radio is from the US and its frequency search uses only odd frequencies ex.: 89.9--90.1--90.3--90.5--etc.
How to switch tuner to work with European standart? (89.9--89.95--90.0--90.05--91.0--etc.)

  • Anonymous May 09, 2011

Thanks, but what should I do with setup menu? There no anything to solve my problem. I need make European standard radio from US. For this purposes is the special service menu or it is need to reinstall some components on the main PCB. How to get service menu I don't know, and I haven't got wiring diagram to make changes.

  • Anonymous May 09, 2011

Did anybody something like I need before?

  • Anonymous May 10, 2011

You are 100% understood what I need. But, unfortunately, IDA-X303 hasn't got any switches (except one on the bottom side - for use external controller) by which I could solve my problem. So or it special service menu or some components on PCB.
    Thank for your try.

I need make from US radio Europe radio on my Alpine IDA-X303

  • Anonymous May 10, 2011

Unfortunately, there aren't solving my problem in that manual (I've already got it). Previous expert understood completely what I need. Thanks.

  • Anonymous May 10, 2011

How to make US radio to receive even frequencies?
    Have: 89.9-90.1-90.3-etc. Need: 89.9-90.0-90.1-90.2-etc.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2011

    Thanks, but it isn't solution.
You are wrong about that it is impossible to change. Models for US and Europa are same by their hardware. There is a way to switch it, but only Alpine specialists know how. They don't say, unfortunately.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2011

Did anybody do that i need?

  • Anonymous May 12, 2011

Thanks, but it isn't service manual. It is just user manual. I've alredy got it.

    PLEASE!!!
DON'T OFFER TO REED THE USER MANUAL!!!
IT ISN'T CONTAIN SOLUTION OF MY PROBLEM!!!

  • Anonymous May 14, 2011

Thanks. But I am sure that US receiver and European are the same by their hardware. Of coarse, it is possible they have their own firmware. I think the manufacturer isn't stupid and left a way to reprogram unit with new firmware without replacing ICs. All that I need to find how to do it.

  • Anonymous May 14, 2011

I've got receiver from US and its frequency step is 0.2 (89.9--91.1--91.3--etc) I need freq. step as at unit produced for Europa 0.05 to have possibility to turn on even freq. (89.9--89.95--90.0--90.05--91.0--etc).

I fint this, but without some image reference... "How do I change the radio settings so that it can receive European/Australian FM frequencies?"...
If you are in Europe or Australia, the FM radio will be set to receive only odd frequencies (97.1, 97.3). To change it to receive even frequencies, do the following: Between the chassis of the player and the circuit board is a piece of card to stop the connections from shorting out. Remove the chassis and the card and the switch should be visible underneath, there may be a hole punched in the card and the chassis but they do not line up so the switch may not be not visible. Once this switch is changed to "Europe" settings, you will be able to change the radio frequency "steps" as noted in the instructions manual.

Hope helps.

Hi,

You really need to get your hands on a workshop manual - this will provide instructions on changing the settings to the applicable country.

    Better still....

Just try ringing your local Alpine Car Audio "Service Agent".

The method of changing the stepping should apply to majority of the latest head units.

  • Anonymous May 13, 2011

I use to work for Kenwood Car Audio, but not familiar with the technical factory adjustments on Alpine. I will do my best to find Alpine's equivalent info on changing the stepping modes.

    Watch this space....

Do you know, where can I find service manual for my Alpine?

  • Anonymous Jun 12, 2011

    Hiya,

Further to our discussion, I have located a different model Alpine Service Manual..........

ZJL Limited has the closest prognosis so far.........

According to the service manual, FM step adjustments can only be achieved by modifing the Tuner on the motherboard, using a Signal Generator with the appropriate measuring equipment. Only a Car Audio electronics technician in your area will be able to do this for you.......

Drop me your email and I will send you the FM tuner adjustment from the manual........

    Cheers,

    Scott

The frequency step is a hardware characteristic - it's determined by the rank of the multiplier that is attached to the crystal oscillator. This is impossible to change without extensive hardware modifications and you will need a very well equipped shop for that - it will be extremely expensive, way more than the unit is worth.
Just use the present available frequencies on autoscan - the AFC (automatic frequency control) will compensate.

Well, it should be able to tune to UK stations easily but the problem is that you are only accessing the presets (US). there are a few steps you have to go through. get this manual, from page 10-12. all you have to do is there. otherwise, post back for further guide.

thanks

Ok, unless you are an absolute technical genius, this is simply not possible to do. The fequency step is set within the stereo's firmware which is written to a nand flash Integrated Circuit. To even make it possible to change the frequency step you would have to either write a custom piece of firmware for the stereo and flash the nand IC with it, or change the nand IC altogether. This probably would not work though as the rest of the circuits would be looking for a specific set of instructions and simply would not find them. In this case it really is not going to be possible to change the frequency step of the stereo I am afraid.

Sorry but unfortunately it is not possible to do things sometimes

Regency R1077 base scanner can not delete old frequencies to reprogram scanner

Press "Manual", then press digit key ("0/10" thru "9") that corresponds with the channel to be changed ("0/10" = ch10). Next, press the digit and decimal point keys to enter the frequency in megahertz (Mhz) to be stored in the channel. To store 453.100 Mhz in channel 2, you would press "Manual", then "2". Press the following keys in order: "4" "5" "3" "." "1" "0" "0", followed by pressing the "Enter" key. Repeat this process for up to 10 channels. If you wish to clear unused channels, you should be able to select the channel, then enter "." followed by the "Enter" key.

This scanner will only accept frequencies between 30.000Mhz and 599.999 Mhz. Attempting to input frequencies outside this range will result in an error message.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thanks.

PROGRAM FREQ IN BC142XL

Its so easy to use you really don't need a manual for the Uniden BC
142XL scanner.

Turn it on. Push the MANUAL button to stop it from scanning.

Push number 1, then push MANUAL again. This should leave you on
channel one.

Using the keypad enter the frequency you want to monitor, then push
E. Press REVIEW at anytime to see what frequency is programmed
there. If the review button flashes 000.0000 on the display, you might be entering an invalid frequency. Refer to the frequency coverage list below.

Push MANUAL to step to channel number two. Enter the frequency. Push E. Push MANUAL to step to channel three. Repeat this process until all ten channels are programmed, or you've run out of frequencies to enter.

Push "SCAN" to start automatically scanning the frequencies. The
radio will stop when it hears someone talking, and resume scanning two
seconds after the conversation has stopped.

Frequency Coverage:

20 to 29.7 MHz (10 Meter "Ham" Band)
29.7 to 50 MHz (VHF Low Band)
50 to 54 MHz (6 Meter Amateur Band)
136 to 144 MHz (Military Land Mobile)
