DVD output (HDMI) to HDMI input on TV will transfer both audio and video from DVD to TV. Audio output on TV to unused Input on Yamaha receiver (Aux, CD, etc.). This hookup will allow DVD and TV channels audio playback through your Yamaha receiver. Remember to test any/all new hookups or connections using minimum settings (volume, etc.), and bring up levels slowly for the initial testing.
Jesus, not even the red white and yellow hookups? Oh, man, sorry, but I would need the model of the DVD player...and how did you hook up the DVD player if it doesn't have the red white and yellow hookups? just curious. Also I would highly recommend getting a new TV outright. If your tv is that old, it doesn't have HD, and that essentially defeats the whole purpose of having a powerhouse like the xbox 360. If you want the dvd player hooked up, give me the model number, but if you want a new tv, give me a budget and I am positive I can direct you to something reasonable. P.S. (being tech savvy isn't a requirement for the newer tvs. in my honest opinion, You have to be a WIZARD in order to get all the inputs to convert to the correct format so it can be displayed on the older tv, so hanging onto the old tv is actually more trouble than a new one. Just saying.)
It should hook up like a regular VCR does. A short cable from the OUT on the back of the dvd player to the cable hookup on the back of the tv.
You can also use audio/video wires (3 wire cable). Somewhat same method...connect 3 wires to audio/video OUT of the dvd player to COMPONENT section on the back of the tv. Should be color coded to match colors on the 3 wires.
Hope this helps some. It is difficult to explain. Good luck!
Yellow is video and red&white audio ,so when you hook up dvd does picture preview of dvd come on?You may have to switch to aux for dvd or different channel try checking each channel .
Just hook your antenna or whatever wire you have currently connected to the TV to the input on the new recorder, and you'll be to record anything you can watch now.
