You shouldn't need to install any drivers for this. You plug the green plug into the speaker output of your computer, and the red one into your mic input.

I just bought a Logitech Clearchat Stereo Headset and am running Windows XP. The mic is not recognizing while plugged into the front or back plugs. Is there something wrong with my soundcard?

You should go to your Device Manager in the "System" category of the Control panel and see if indeed the driver for your mic is present. It will be listed under "Sound, Video and Gaming devices."

if the mic does not return you may be missing a driver contact your laptop manufacturer or download new sound card drivers from the websight to restore mic function.
